MemberOvomorphMay-11-2012 11:02 PMDo you think that this movie will actually be able to give any of us the heebie jeebies like the first time we saw Alien/Aliens? I was 10 the last time i saw a movie that didnt let me sleep at night and that was none other than ALIENS. Given that we all know and have seen the type of horror and gore that we'll probably see in this film, is truly being scared or unsettled a possibility for us weathered and desensitized sci fi veterans?

MemberOvomorphMay-11-2012 11:33 PMI do think this could give us a new type of "scary" movie. I do not think that it will be a scare like Alien/Aliens did. I think that Ridley knows that "scary" has to change to something new. As I have said before, in Ridley I trust.

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 3:42 AMMaybe THAT'S why Scott wanted 3D for this film Dolfinesque, and not just
to compete with James Cameron's Avatar for the sake of 'raising the bar' of superficial visual novelty value.

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 7:45 AMI am not expecting scary stuff. I am expecting new concept, diversion to all that i used to think earlier. That lightbulb moment. Fear doesn't make sense in movie like this, betrayal of players and psychological stuff makes more sense.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 12:55 AMyour forgetting as well this film will be in 3d, the audience will be pulled in. Things will actually be coming from the side, when something strikes forward it will appear like its coming at your face, in the ship you will feel the cloustraphobia of the environment, its gonna blow alien out of the water, Avatar was the 1st truly mindblowing 3d experience but it was a kiddy movie, prometheus will open everyone up to the realities of the depth and power of 3d technology. I wouldnt be surprised if people dont go see this film 2 or 3 times at the cinema.

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 12:11 AMGetting nightmares from a scary movie at my age is a bit of a stretch. But I can still have the crap scared out of me, as I have with quite a few films.
Let's have realistic expectations. It seems like you're setting the bar way too high for any film to reach.
I'm sure it will be scary enough. It doesn't necessarily have to be as scary or scarier than the previous alien films. Just an overall satisfying film.

MemberOvomorphMay-11-2012 11:09 PMI think it will be a great movie but to scared to shit? Well I think we will not know until seeing it with our own eyes. In addition to being the great Ridley who is behind all this creates a certain guarantee and faith.
So I bet all my chips to Prometheus and YES!, I have much faith in Scott.
