Alien: The Return of Ripley Part 4 Ripley passed the days in relative seclusion aboard the ship as she opted not to take advantage of Cryosleep. With the new drive technology, the Sulaco was expected to be at their destination in less than two weeks and with more than adequate supplies on board, it seemed a far better option to stay awake and prepare for what might lay ahead months deal with the nightmares that could possibly be waiting for her. As they grew closer and closer to their destination, what little sleep Ripley could get was marred by horrific images and nightmares that seem to grow more intense and frequent with each passing day. Hicks have also opted not to use Cryosleep and visited her daily in order to go about their plan. Ripley was surprised to see that Bishop had accompanied them on that mission. Hicks had stated that he wanted someone familiar along when he took command of the vessel and made sure to have Bishop repaired and upgraded as aside from Ripley, he believed in drugs the only person to which he could trust fully. It seemed odd at first think of the mechanical being as a person but Bishop had shown a range of loyalty and dedication that surpassed any flesh and blood being he had ever served with and in light of what may lay ahead he wanted every available option at his disposal. Bishop informed them that inside the sector that they were quickly approaching lay a vast complex that through various covert means he was able to ascertain that it was a high level prison facility. Hicks found this to be very odd as did Ripley who thought it seemed like a lot of expense to ship and house criminals in such a remote location when there were maximum-security prisons much closer. Bishop also informed them of a massive structure that lay just beyond the detainment facilities which would likely be the point of origin for the transmission that Ripley received. Since they weren’t exactly coming in with an open invitation, Hicks plans to tell the crew that they were on a top-secret surveillance mission where their objective was to gather any and all data related to their surroundings and to return without detection at all costs. They’ve told not to initiate hostilities but protect themselves at all costs and at all possible to eliminate the use of deadly force against any civilians that they might encounter. Hicks opted to send one drop ship down with Ripley and himself as well as small band troopers with the remainder the battalion and Bishop on board the ship. They were instructed to check in every two hours and that should contact be lost for any reason their attempt to survey the situation and take whatever actions are deemed appropriate but first and foremost set themselves in the ship at all costs. As she secured herself into her seat, Ripley recalled her last descent and a Marine transport and as she looked around the assembled group she thought back with a touch of sadness to Vasquez, Dietrich, Frost, Crowe, and even Hudson and the others who accompanied her and how full of confidence they had been despite her warnings of what lay in wait. As the ship descended, a massive facility came into view. Had it not been for the advanced optics aboard the ship it could easily have been missed by the blind eye as the dark construction seem to fit perfectly to the background making it for all intents invisible unless you are standing within a block of instruction. The team sent down the other side of a ridge and began donning their EVA suits for the journey to and from the facility. Should anyone on the ground question their arrival Hicks was prepared to call it a routine check of a possible distress signal. It seemed to be the easiest explanation for an appearance of their Marine unit and one that could give them a bit of deniability at least until someone attempted to verify their orders with a higher up in the chain of command. Hicks was a risk that since Ripley had risked her life to save Hicks and his fellow Marines in the past he felt jeopardizing his career was a small price to pay. Upon entering an access port, Hicks had his comtech Anderson attempt to open the door and bypass any alarms. The youthful tech was extremely good with electronics so much so that he quickly rose to the top of the class and it was considered a bit of a coup when he was assigned to help test and maintain the new systems on ship. Anderson commented on the extremely high level of encryption that was well above even the most secure facilities yet he was as good as his reputation and in a few moments he had door opened. Cautiously the team entered unsure of what to expect. Anderson and his fellow Marines flanked Ripley and as was this fashion, Hicks took point. They made their way into a larger facility which appeared to be little more than a storage chamber. The dimly lit area gave the impression of the warehouse and didn’t seem anything out of the ordinary. As teamwork toward the back room they passed racks of supplies ranging from foodstuffs to power cells, certainly nothing out of the way for a facility much less prison. An extremely thick steel door blocked their way and once again Anderson with his technical expertise was able to open the door which led to a much larger chamber. Although dark, but Ripley and Hicks saw immediately set them on edge. Hicks made a mental note to write commendations for the assembled members of his team is not one of them broke ranks or lost it in the face of what they saw. Racks and racks of horrific looking creatures lined the walls in secure confinement. A closer examination showed what appeared to be a horrific hybrid between humans and the Xenomorphs. If Anderson was able to patch into a terminal after several minutes of deep research discovered a file deeply encoded named “The Darwin Project”. Further examination of the file indicated the company directive to infuse maximum-security prisoners with augmented DNA in an attempt to create a new breed of soldiers capable of combat missions in the most hostile environments. Has Ripley and Hicks began to process information, their thoughts were disturbed by a blaster rifle fire which quickly took down three of the members of their team and force the three remaining Marines to return fire blindly amongst the dark and racks. Laying down suppressing fire they quickly made their way to another sealed door to which Anderson deftly did his magic. The intensity of the gunfire was getting closer and thankfully gigantic doors opened just in time. Upon entering the room, Hicks had Anderson sealed doors with the complex encryption that should allow them to buy some time. Just when they thought they were safe for a moment, a bloodcurdling hiss originated from the far side of the room. Quickly on guard the team raised their weapons, Ripley included, and prepared to face what lay ahead. Hicks toggled the light switch to see secured before him gigantic creature, one that raised its swept head toward the team and upon seeing Ripley let out a long and fierce scream of pure anger and hatred as this was not the first time that the Queen had encountered Ripley and she had a score to settle.

Alien: The Return of Ripley (Author: Gareth von Kallenbach) I came up with this concept back in 1993. Since the subsequent films rendrered much of it moot, I never bothered to finish it, yet it has never gone away and pops up in my mind all the time. So, I decided it was time to get it done once and for all. Here is a brief taste, what do you think? Falling, endlessly down a deep dark chasm, which should only take a few seconds seemed to stretch on forever in an endless drawn out finale. Some said that one’s entire life passes before their eyes shortly before their moment of death but oddly there was no memory before the horror that had consumed every moment of life. At first at peace with the decision has the drawn out free fall continued unabated hope of imminent finality of which the end decision was so greatly desired. Freedom would be at hand. An end to the pain, fear, and constant dread that had been a constant companion for far too long. Soon it would all be over they prayed. With the blinding flash and a shocking buzz and whirr, this is not how they expected their final moments of sentient thought to end. Nor had they expected to have neither the sensation of cold nor the discomfort of bright light in their eyes. Slowly, cautiously, Lieut. Ellen Ripley opened her eyes and found herself staring up at the lid of her cryo tube in the hold of the Sulaco and found herself with more questions than answers. Cautiously sitting up, she could see the forms of Newt and Hicks begin to stir, and could smell the stillness in the air that had recently filled the chamber prior to their reawakening. Memories of Clemens, Golic, and Dillon, and Fury 161 filled her head, as real as anything that was before her now. Ripley had heard of strange dreams in Hyper sleep before, hell; she had even experienced her share when serving on the Nostromo, but nothing was ever as detailed and lengthy of the nightmare she had just experienced. The next few hours were whirlwind as she assisted Newt and Hicks with talking preparation. Although largely automated, task such as getting dressed, eating, and going over just what to report took up a large part of their time. Ripley decided against telling the others about her unusual dream and instead was warmed by the fact that the two that she had thought past were alive and well. While Hicks would need further medical care upon docking he did appear to be healing well and was certainly able to get up and about the ship thanks to the regenerative nature of hyper sleep in the medicine he been given prior to entering the cryotube. They decided to leave what’s left of Bishop exactly where they had left him has to be better for the techs to recover him and provide him the best possible reconstruction options. Looking out the view port anchor head station grew from a distant pinprick of light to a large sprawling structure that filled all the eye could see. Berkeley never been happier to see the earth as it spun slowly below them. For brief moment she worried that this too was a dream in which she would quickly wake up from and find herself back in free fall. She quickly decided to suppress those thoughts. Upon receiving the all clear from the ship’s computer she and her fellow survivors made their way to the nearest airlock to begin departure from the ship. As the final door between the ship and Gateway opened, Ripley was not shocked to see the various corporate types and colonial Marine officers waiting for them. One person however had her taken aback abruptly had her convinced that she was still trapped in a nightmare. How could that traitorous worm still be here, when I last saw him he was cocooned in the alien nest begging me for mercy and yet here he is standing in front of me. The stranger before her obviously noticed her discomfort with the eerily familiar smile spoke to her. ” Ripley, let me help you with your apparent confusion, my name is Donald Burke, I’m Carter’s twin brother and we apparently have a lot to talk about”.

Alien: The Return of Ripley: Part 2 Compared with last grilling she received from the company, Ripley was shocked at how routine her debriefing was. The assembled collection of suits seem to take everything she said in stride and didn’t even raise an eyebrow with her report on the alien Queen, death of Carter and the rest Marines, as well as the loss of the colony. She had expected them not to have too much regret the loss of human life given her past experience of loss and the Nostromo and its crew, but expected a roomful of bean counters to certainly question their role in the distraction of the colony. As had been previously agreed to, the company had agreed to restore her flight status but suggested that she consider taking some assignments closer to home after her experiences with her last two deep space missions. Ripley had been prepared to fight this suggestion but after giving it some thought she realize that some peace and quiet and routine on or near terra firma might make for a nice change of pace after what she’d been through. The only real tragedy to her situation was very little time that she was able to spend with Newt in Hicks. They had all been debriefed separately and managed to see each other briefly for meals and some downtime, but very shortly after the debriefings ended, Hicks was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to a unit, and Newt was sent to stay with her grandparents in California. The weeks after passed routinely as aside from her regular visits to her psychologist and the occasional visit from Carter Ripley had pretty much settled into a life of boredom and routine. Jones, the big orange tabby, was a surprise guest when he paid a visit one her old supervisor from the loading dock checking to see how she was doing. After 57 years and hyper sleep Ripley did not have the luxury of friends and family but the considerate supervisor who was kind enough to give her a job after her scathing denouncement from the company was as close to a friend she had and she kindly agreed to keep an eye on Jones during her absence and provided Jones a state and stable home. For a moment it was easy for Ripley to forget all that had happened to her as the tranquil purring of the cat made it very easy to think that such things as chest bursting, acid spewing, death dealing, and monstrosities actually exist. Ripley had accepted a job at a deep space communications center working the late shift. It was a far cry below her usual career as a flight officer, but the peace and tranquility it offered as well as the flexible schedule was definitely something she desired. Ripley taken great pains to keep her recent nightmares out of her psych reports as often as she could and the and the late hours she worked allowed her to readily embrace sleep once her shift ended. Ripley it at first dismissed the nightmares as a holdover from the very detailed and unusual one she had and hyper sleep, and although shorter in duration the subsequent ones have been as vivid and disturbing as anything she had ever experienced. She had tried to contact Hicks as much as possible, but naturally the nature of his work would make him unavailable for weeks at a time. She had hoped he was safe but would console herself what the far too infrequent and brief messages he sent as well as the precious messages from Newt. Ripley was already counting the days until she would take some time off to travel to Earth to spend with Newt and her family. It was amazing how her mind wanders with the routine monotony of her job. Routing messages coming in from all points of deep space from colonies, ships, stations, satellites, and other locales did bring her some satisfaction. The station essentially received, cataloged, and relayed messages. When a message is traveled several light years, it’s vital that things get where they’re going especially when factors such as atmospheres, and solar flares, and other cosmic phenomenon can interfere with or degrade a transmission. After several weeks on her job Ripley had gained the trust and aberration of her supervisor to the point where she was left in charge of the center for long periods of time. While much of it was automated, the company still liked to have flesh and blood people making the decisions and overseeing things as certainly helped various suits have someone to yell at when their precious report from the outer colonies was delayed. The fact that they were able to get real coffee aboard Gateway was a real plus in more than made up for the drop in pay that she was used to receiving. A quick check of the monitors showed that everything was in the green safer one light which indicated a problem with the transmission. The fingers dancing over the keyboard, Ripley was able to pull up the transmission and saw that it appeared to have been degraded yet oddly was using some sort of encryption. Few minutes of tinkering soon became couple of hours and just when Ripley had given up hope she was able to play transmission. Lines of static outlined the picture but it was very clear that the person speaking looked extremely frightened and was on the verge of hyperventilating. “They are loose, and have broken through the defenses, we need more help and an immediate evacuation this is a code red priority, repeat a code red priority”. Whatever else the man was saying was drowned out by the deafening cacophony of gunfire pulled by a flash of movement and in static as the camera went dead. Intrigued, Ripley replayed the transmission at a slower rate and applied filters to mask out the gunfire and speaker. Very primal and angry shriek was picked up around the moment the gunfire erupted. A sound too many could have been easily ignored but one that said replace nerves on end as she knew her nightmares were becoming a reality and that the terror appears to have returned yet again.

Alien: The Return of Ripley Part 3 While Ripley’s mind filled with numerous questions about what she’d seen and heard, her hands were ready deftly moving across the console in an attempt to get any piece of information she could about the mysterious and disturbing transmission. Since it was a relatively slow evening she was alone in the control center and thus was able to work undisturbed for several hours. Despite multiple layers encryption Ripley was able to locate the source of the transmission. It had originated from a supposedly empty sector of space that was off the normal trade routes and military traffic lanes. Sensor shift was getting near Anand Ripley made a mental note of the location and by the time the morning shift came to relieve her she was more than ready to get back to her apartment and process all that she taken in during the eventful evening. Unsure who she could turn to Ripley decided to wait until her next shift and send Hicks a secure transmission is the last thing she needed was the company becoming aware of what she had seen and heard. Ripley was unable to sleep and was startled when her videocom chimes with an incoming message. Donald Burke was calling and although he appeared to be a polar opposite of his brother, she still couldn’t get used to seeing his face without the hairs on her arms standing on edge. Burke was calling to check in and see how she was doing, and surprisingly offered to meet her for lunch as he had something he wanted share with her. In a few hours Ripley and Donald were in an executive dining room enjoying gorgeous view of Earth. The food was first-rate as it was all real and not the synthetic re-creations that many in space have been forced to live with for decades. The conversation and pleasant but Donald had seemed a little restless. As they were enjoying their desert, Donald abruptly excused himself citing an important meeting before leaving, he produced an ornately wrapped gift for Ripley stating that it was long overdue and she should open it in private. Before she could answer, Donald hurried from the room leaving Ripley for once in her life silent. Ripley heard back to her apartment and helped the gift and noticed is extremely nice designer jacket. At first confused by the gift Ripley decides to try it on and found that it fit perfectly. As she went to inspect the tag, she noticed surprise bulging and stiffness to it on closer examination, located a data card hidden within the folds of the tag. Intrigued Ripley placed the data card in her computer and saw that the information was text-only. It revealed a set of coordinates that did not correspond to any known system, but seem to be in the area where the mysterious transmission originated. The message then concluded with “you are being watched, be careful”. It was signed simply “A friend”. Ripley was going to bet her next few paychecks that Burke was the person who sent the mysterious message but that could simply be setup by the company. While she was unsure their motivations she has learned over the years that the more darker and sinister theory, closer to the actual truth one gets when dealing with the company and secret agendas. Ripley decided to tempt fate and sent Donald a thank you message and upon reaching his assistant, was informed that he had been sent away unexpectedly on urgent company business and that there was not a definite timetable for his return. Upon signing off Ripley immediately put in a message for Hicks stating that she had urgent business and needed to speak with him immediately. As the days passed, Ripley had heard from neither Burke or Hicks, and the radio traffic remained especially silent from the region where the mysterious signal had originated. Unsure where to turn, Ripley dutifully went about her business and work responsibilities and was shocked when approximately 3 weeks later she was surprised, pleasantly surprised, when Hicks showed up unexpectedly to surprise her. He looks good and seem to have suffered no lasting physical effects from his encounter with the aliens. Hicks had been on an officer training patrol getting used to his new unit and ship and is part of the maneuvers had been under a strict communications blackout with all but HQ. Upon his return, you taken the first shuttle to the station. Ripley disclosed which she had seen and heard and played the hidden message that she had been given. Ripley could tell that Hicks was deeply disturbed by what he had seen and heard, and paced the room like a caged animal. He specified that those coordinates were in an area that had been deemed off limits for all traffic commercial and military. Most interstellar vessels don’t even come anywhere near that sector of space and the few that do not want off by military satellites. Hicks had recently become aware of this during his officer cruise when his ship had received what appeared to be a distress signal from a ship a few light-years from the coordinates given to Ripley. Hicks had been allowed to break radio silence to contact HQ about their planned rescue and was surprised when he was told to violate space-time law and not provide any assistance but that HQ would deal with the matter. It became clear to both of them something very strange was going on in that mysterious sector of space and that they must find out at all costs. Hicks noted that they were supposed to ship out for patrol in the next few days, and made arrangements to discreetly sequester Ripley aboard the ship. Hicks had thought about going without her but knowing her nature, he decided that it was better to move heaven and earth to bring her along then try to go it alone. Ripley had arranged some time off, as her psychologist had been asking her to take an extended leave and even suggested that she visit one of the outer colonies in an effort to get her used to interstellar travel again. Ripley was not surprised to see the Sulaco was the ship to which Hicks had been given command, was happy to see that it has been greatly upgraded since her last visit. She’d been informed that not only have the weapons and propulsion systems and greatly enhanced but the ship had also been equipped with a prototype stealth system which was the reason for their current mission. Ripley had been described as a consultant to the crewmembers who saw her, but aside from Hicks, Ripley kept her interactions to a minimum. As the ship headed to the outer colonies, Ripley knew that they would soon divert toward the mysterious coordinates and whatever unknown horrors awaited them.

Alien: The Return of Ripley: Part 5 Before the assembled group time to react the horror before them, a hiss from above got their attention. Hicks and Ripley in their last moment conscious thought cursed themselves for not bringing their breather masks inside as they quickly fell victim to the gas that filled the room. Dark and disturbing visions filled her sleep, visions of the Queen tearing Newt and Hicks limb from limb, the Queen grasping her in her oversized hands, and hissing out her name before the gigantic inner mouth turned her head into a bloody pulp. A bright light and a sharp buzzing sound jostled Ripley back to consciousness and gave her a very welcome relief from the nightmares. Although disoriented, Ripley quickly gained her bearings especially could. She was in a small cell and could not see any of the other members of the team. With the sudden and frantic motion when the walls of her cell opened, and four very big and serious looking armed guards picked her up from her bunk and placed her on her feet. Ripley decided this was not the time for protests and decided to play along and accompany the guards as she attempted to learn more about the shocking developments. She figured if they wanted her dead they could have done so already so the best thing for her to do at this moment was to stall for time and plan her escape. As they walked through the complex Ripley saw a number of guards as well as offices, labs, scientists, and numerous sports staff that would be appropriate in any company facility. The staff seemed to pay little to no attention to her and she passed by as if such sites were commonplace. Ripley made a mental note of this as their lack of interest in her could be to her advantage should the opportunity arise. After a while, Ripley was ushered into a spacious and very well decorated office which he assumed belonged to the serious looking suit before her with the very expensive looking hairstyle. Ripley’s thoughts were interrupted when the suit spoke to her…”Lt. Ellen Ripley, you are one determined and resourceful individual I must say”. “I am impressed how far you and your colleagues have managed to come with all the security we have in place”. Ripley decided that this is the time to listen and not talk especially since her hosting more than happy to do the talking for that both of them. “It’s actually lucky that we got to you when we did as months of hard work would have been lost and would not cut your sightseeing tour short”. Ripley decided it was time to speak up and asked that since her host clearly knew a lot about her perhaps she could enlighten her with his name. To this he chuckled, and replied, “I am Warner Huntington head of special projects for the company and you put me in a bit of a disadvantage thanks to our unplanned meeting”. Huntington explained that the facility was set up as a remote research facility destined to allow the maximum security and maximum privacy. He then moved on to explain that the company had dispatched a second ship to LV 426 a couple of days after the Sulaco had departed. When they arrived, the ship and crew had already begun their return journey to Earth, however the colony and surrounding landscape were complete and utter loss. With this in mind, they begin series of scans and in an absolute one in 1 million stroke of luck they discovered very angry cast off floating in space. Although it took considerable effort, they were able to build a containment facility in one of the hanger bays and use the airlock to capture and house the Queen. With a flourish, Huntington activated a video monitor and showed Ripley footage of the Queen under study both on the ship and in the facility. In time, the Queen began to lay her eggs and prisoners are brought the planet to service hosts. “Unfortunately as you know, the creatures are extremely resourceful and difficult to contain and we had a bit of an incident”. Huntington explained. “Said incident was likely the fragment of the message that he received that undoubtedly brought you here”. Huntington continued…” After we dealt with the uprising we found that the remaining alien corpses were not easy to study thanks to their unique biochemical makeup”. The DNA would after some research, allowed humans to be infused with the alien genetic markers without the unpleasantries associated with creating and maintaining the aliens which would allow for an enhanced breed of soldier that would hopefully be susceptible and receptive to following orders. Huntington like a kid at Christmas unable to contain himself, gleefully explained that under study they learned how to extract and manipulate DNA that was left in the host bodies after the incubation process which allowed them to gather and reproduce the alien DNA which to his thinking was far more desirable than having extremely dangerous and uncontrollable lab specimens around. Ripley decided to ask why they allowed the Queen to remain since they no longer had need of her children. Huntington explained that she was a valuable asset and one that they would be foolish not to harness. He explained that while drones could easily be replaced a Queen, was a rare and valuable gem who would provide numerous benefits for them down the road including fresh stocks of DNA whenever they needed. Ripley knew from firsthand experience of the company was capable of some truly horrific actions however nothing could prepare her for what she had just seen and heard. She decided to ask about the well-being of her shipmates and was told that they are safe for now but how much longer that remains is entirely up to her. Huntington explained that the rent able to locate their ship and instructed her to make contact with them so that they can get a fix on its location. When Ripley was unwilling to do this and told Huntington what he could do it himself and extremely graphic and unflattering manner the childlike smile disappeared from his face and more malevolent grin replaced. “As you wish”, was his only comment before pressing a button and bringing in the guards. “Take her to the arena and make sure her friends are with her”. Committed Huntington and with a quick nod Ripley was abruptly ushered from the room, and taken through the facility to a large chamber. The chamber had large thick doors on either end and exceptionally high ceilings that would easily be over 100 feet tall. She was very happy to see Hicks, Anderson, and the remaining members of her party although she feared for the worst. As if on command, room became highly illuminated and they could make out the soft whirr from the servomotors in the cameras that filled the room. Without warning, one of the large doors parted and like efficient out of a nightmare, the Queen burst into the room turning the first two unfortunate soldiers in her path to paste. The brutality and carnage of the creature was beyond anything Ripley had every seen from the race, and it seemed that it was taking delight in inflicting as much chaos and damage as it could. Ripley also noticed a few other individuals in the room and thought she recognized a couple from the transmission she had received. I desperately attempted to find an exit or find sanctuary from the creature but there was none to be found and they were horrifically dismembered in no time. Ripley suspected that the staff of the facility and Huntington himself probably took great delight in watching the spectacle and I’m sure wagered more than a few credits on the outcome. As if out of nowhere, Huntington’s voice appeared and told Ripley and Hicks that this would all end as soon as they gave the location of their ship to him but they better click fast because her Majesty isn’t as patient as he was. A glance between Ripley and Hicks said all they needed to know that they would not give up their crewmates, but they fear that despite their best intentions they were about to meet gruesome fate. Anderson and Hicks did their best to run about the room and distract the Queen walked Ripley attempted to find some sanctuary for them. Unfortunately despite their phenomenal efforts to elude Queen or to damage her by throwing the odd box or random object at her they were not able to do much more than infuriate her. As fatigue set in, three survivors quickly realized that they were only delaying the inevitable without to go down fighting. Despite their best intentions they were deftly fighting a war of attrition and having dispatched the other candidates, the Queen turned to focus her sole attention on the three survivors. The Queen quickly sprinted toward them and Ripley prepared herself as she could when suddenly, a bright blue beam tore a hole through the roof of the arena and struck the Queen solidly in her head while a second beam ripped a gigantic hole clean through her body. The Queen, quite dead, laying in the corner a smoldering pile as her body acids began to emanate around the corpse. At once Hicks and Ripley looked up and saw Marines repelling from the hole in the dome complete with weapons and rebreather equipment for the survivors. On board the Sulaco, Bishop said that controls to the ships rail gun and thought to himself of the old human saying about payback being a bitch. Regardless of whether his programming allowed it or not he made a mental note of the satisfaction he got from reducing the Queen to a smoking blob.

Alien: The Return of Ripley Part 6 Huntington did not know what to make of the sudden turn of events. One moment he was basking in glee watching his prized possession make short work of those before her the next minute she was a pile of sizzling slag rapidly eating away their that there is still floor below her. As if this wasn’t bad enough, a strike force Marines was rapidly making its way through the base. Although his first thought was to self-preservation, Warner Huntington was not about to go down without a fight, well that is as long as others were willing to do the fighting. He quickly dispatched his security details but as good as his hired mercenaries were they were no match for the battle hardened Colonial Marines that were quickly making their way through the compound. He tried to follow the action as best as he could but their Comtech was no match have system after system quickly fell under the control of the Marines. Desperate to slow down there rapid advance Huntington decided to roll the dice and put his new troops into action. A press of a button was all that was needed to release the allegiance from stasis. He had been extremely grateful for his decision to keep this secret project off the main computer systems with access allowed only via his discretion. In the cavernous chamber hundreds of hybrids sprang to life although to call the present condition as living would be generous as best. Driven by uncontrollable rage and primordial instinct the hybrids tore through the compound destroying anything in their path, friend and foe alike. The creatures did not have the signature tail and elongated heads of the Xenomorphs, but retained their black exoskeletons, strength, speed, as well as the unending tenacity that was inherent in the species. They also possessed sharp claws and fangs which they used to rend metal, flesh, and anything they set their attention to. Ripley and Hicks made their way with the squad deeper and the compound as they had left Anderson behind to control the computer systems that facilitate the arrival of new troops. Hicks made a mental note of how polished Ripley was the pulse rifle as she was able to lay down pinpoint fire when they encountered resistance. Despite the sporadic pockets they encountered, the Marines made rapid advancement through the compound and were just about to enter the executive wing access points one they encountered seen such unparalleled distraction that even the most battle hardened troopers had to look away from moment in order to compose themselves. Heads, arms, legs, and gore littered the common area with plenty of red and brownish yellow blood littering the walls and ceilings. Wasting no time, Hicks had Anderson patch into the security cameras and confirm that the discovery they had made earlier was no longer dormant and in fact running loose upon the station. Hicks immediately patched in to Bishop who agreed with his commanding officer that an immediate evac was the best course of action has with the new factor in play numbers were definitely not on their side. Ripley leaned in and asked if they should nuke the site from orbit and then added with a sly grin just to be safe. Hicks appreciated the wry irony of the situation, and nodded his head in agreement with a smile. As he gave the order to evac, a pounding sound on the doors in front of them immediately brought the squad to complete attention and combat readiness. An earsplitting shriek and bending of metal followed in a flash, a sea of black terrors descended upon them. At that point short controlled bursts became a thing of the past as a constant volley of grenades and unrestrained pulse fire echoed down the corridor. It was impossible to see just how many of their adversaries they had taken down but the shrieking only grew louder. In a flash a new group adversaries descended on them from above and like a pack of rabid animals rapidly cut their numbers down to size. Fighting with everything they could just stay on their feet, Ripley, Hicks, and the remaining survivors hastened back to the shuttle and made it just as swarms more of the hybrids arrived. As they lifted off from the compound Anderson swung the ship cameras around and saw that the floor of the compound had become an endless black sea of creatures. Bishop chimed in that a small shuttle had lifted off from the compound moments before them and wanted to know if they should set in a pursuit course. Hicks replied in the affirmative and instructed that a full spread tactical nukes be deployed the moment the shuttle landed. Making way to the view screens Ripley and Hicks took a great sense of satisfaction in seeing the billowing mushroom cloud that erupted where the compound had formally occupied. There was still business to attend to and in no time the Sulaco had captured the shuttle containing Huntington Warner and a few advisors. Although not so smug as he had been he was still defined even when he was taken to cryo confinement for the trip back to earth. Later that evening Hicks and Bishop with Ripley accompanying them set a plan in place for formalizing their mission report. They would claim that while on routine maneuvers and test of the new stealth systems they encountered a mysterious signal, wanting to investigate, encountered hostile resistance and responded accordingly. Huntington would be left to answer for his actions and while they were sure that he had friends very high up who were behind his project in light of its recent demise they would likely want to distance themselves as much as they possibly could. As the group paired for the journey home elsewhere in the ship and private communiqué was being prepped. It read simply…”Phase one has been completed and is a success. Proceed with phase 2 immediately”……..
