Cobralien reminds me of "Enemy Mine"

The cobralien or whatever the creature will be called (I don't like the name asshugger) always reminds me of a movie from the early 1980's called Enemy Mine. In it there were sand creatures that had a big tentacle that came rising from the sand and caused some heavoc. As a kid, they always scared me to death. Do you think Sir Ridley found some inspiration there? Here's a scene from the movie. I liked the movie as a child. It didn't stand the test of time as good as Alien though.
