MemberTrilobiteMay-15-2012 11:59 AMHave you got a creative imagination, wanna assist with some gruesome deaths or suugestions...
Heres the deal, among others, I am working on an AVP screenplay, which takes place on Bouvet Island in 1904. Think of John Carpenters The Thing that plays to the strengths of the original Alien and Predator films, less is more with progressive layers of reveal. In the premise, the synopsis I now have a numbers game going on...
- 6 human survivors (starts at 15)
- 7 Aliens
- 3 Predators
Humans
Now, the fate of 1 of the human survives is already decided (guy seen at beginning of AVP on DVD), and of the remaining 5 one is to be abducted, but the remaining 4 are fair game.
Aliens
The fate of 2 of the Aliens is already determined, but the remaining 5 are fair game. Maybe the humans could kill one?
Predators
Sorry the fate of all 3 Predators is already decided.
Remember Razorback Point Whaling Station, Bouvet Island, Antarctica, October 1904 is the setting. The humans are all male and Norwegian. 6 of the Aliens are Drones (smooth carapace) the 7th a warrior (ridged carapace) whose fate is already decided.
Hoping for some good and clever suggestions here...

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 12:25 PMYou don't like Norwegians? hehe, kidding.
Would there be a big complex? it feels like 5 humans between 7 aliens and 3 predators wouldn't last a minute. and if they are in the frozen open, well not even then. maybe i'm missing something?

MemberTrilobiteMay-15-2012 12:31 PMIn AVP it is established that in 1904 a team of Norwegians stationed at the Whaling Station disappeared overnight, then in the DVD release we saw a small bit of footage. The screenplay I'm working on starts with 14 humans, (eventually) 7 Aliens and 3 Predators. The setting can be seen at the start of AVP (bottom portion of image)...

also known as vampirefish, will swim up the urethra of men and women. doesn't bear thinking about the consequences.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:16 PMAh a prequel to it, i'd sugest reusing the underground temple
the "game/test" between predators a and aliens is already on, when the humans arrive.
something goes wrong and 7 aliens and 3 predators get outside. while humans there
now a bit more thinking

MemberTrilobiteMay-15-2012 1:33 PMThe Pyramid does feature, but not as much as it did in AVP - most of story actually takes place within the station. First half of the story is mostly about the aliens amassing at the expense of some of the humans, with the Predators coming into play in the second half of the story leading towards the climax.

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 4:47 AMwhat about predator alien killing/fighting,
then the remaining mixing up with humans in that samll station.
i'd keep the killers limited, so there is hiding and scary jumpscenes, when they jump out somewhere etc

MemberOvomorphJun-24-2012 9:22 AMHarpoon is always a good bet for a whaling station.
Falling into boiling whale blubber is a nasty exit.
I don't remember much of AVP so I don't recall if there was any mention or use of the idea that whale oil was used for lighting lamps, so a fiery death could result from that.
You could combine these, of course, whale lamp oil in small quantities isn't really hot like a flamethrower, but it could be used to corral Xenos, and blind the infra red of the Predators, while someone takes aim with a harpoon to try finish them off, and of course this plan won't go as easily as hoped for with casualties on both sides, including a human being taken down into the boiling burning blubber along with a Xeno or Predator, or both after a struggle for control of the harpoon gun.
Try to avoid a situation where a man is freezing in water next to a woman floating on some flotsam... I think that's been done before ;p

MemberOvomorphJun-26-2012 12:24 PMAlien and Predator fighting at the edge of a glacier. The predator stabs the alien with his arm blades but they get stuck inside and the acid starts leaking on the Predator's arm slowly melting his armor. Finally the Predator pulls out the blade from the wounded Alien and they are facing each other ready to fight again. But the acid has eaten through the self-destruct device on the Predator's arm and makes it short-circuit. The device starts sparking and beeping and the red glowing symbols begin to change fast. Knowing he is doomed the Predator charges and jumps on the Alien and both fall down the edge of the glacier. They continue wrestling fiercely as the fall down the cliff, then there is the huge explosion that triggers an avalanche (which could reveal the entrance to the buried pyramid or have other significant part in the plot)

MemberTrilobiteJun-26-2012 12:31 PM@ Shinobi,
Don't worry, this screenplay is going back to what made 1979's Alien and 1987's Predator work so well - layers of reveal, hiding in the shadows -- old school shocks, none of this new fangled slasher/shocker rubbish.
@ tha Pig,
There is a fight at the end between a ridged head Xenomorph and a Predator, but the Predator is/has to be the victor - can't say why (hehehe)!!!
@ Hadleys Hope,
harpoon seems a bit obviously but the whale oil/fat idea is a good one, has my imagination working overtime, thanks

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 9:07 AMWell, the Harpoon, remember would be difficult to deploy, if there isn't a ship in dock, then the Harpoon wouldn't be mounted for firing, but would be stored as a spare. Fetching it in the first place would be hazardous, and it's not the quickest weapon to mount and fire, so plenty of sustained peril involved before it's even fired.

MemberOvomorphAug-25-2012 10:48 AMI've always wondered how the Xeno's cocoon someone. They excrete something from there tails?...mouths?
You could have a scene that demonstrates there technique.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteAug-25-2012 11:18 AM@ djress56,
Ironically I have a scene in the screenplay that does just that.

MemberTrilobiteFeb-07-2013 5:40 AMIronically a treatment for an AVP prequel is 99% complete but has since been abandoned, due to the fans actually being more interested in a possible reboot, as per our FB Page, where fans are choosing from 3 possible scenarios.
Any suitable ideas from the prequel treatment will be transferred into a reboot treatment, but the reboot treatment will be an all new story which will be unveiled on our new, forthcoming AVP site, of which will also have links to our soon to be updated Predators Site and a whole new Alien Site.
But shush, moms the word.
