May 15, 2012I am referring to Spaihts. He was hyped by a clever PR team as the "go to guy" for sci-fi movie scripts. You will see this line, spoon fed to hollywood journalists, all over the interwebs in various articles.
His first feature film, Their Darkest Hour, flopped big time.
His 2nd feature film, Prometheus, was it seems, rescued by Lindelof.
So why didn't Scott simply fire Spaihts? My guess is to avoid controversy. A director never wants even a hint that the script is horrible and had to be fixed. Furthermore this movie is not simply another big budget shoot. It is the epic return of Ridley Scott to science fiction. It has to be perfect.
