Noomi describes the monster as "every woman's worst nightmare," in regards to at least SOME of the "organic transformations."
From the beginning, I've always assumed there would be some sort of "birth" scene with Shaw. Later on, I figured it must be because the Engineers impregnate her somehow.
It occurred to me that many people haven't REACHED that conclusion, relying instead on somehow Holloway impregnating her. Which makes sense, although, after hearing her describe it as such that it would make SENSE,
that if the Engineers spliced their DNA with species all over the universe,
The most capable way of starting a new hybrid race would be to impregnate a species, i.e. Humans LITERALLY being born from Engineer wombs, or some equivalent of such,
leading to Shaws RAPIDLY growing womb, and describing it as a WOMAN'S worst nightmare, leads me to believe that she thinks that alien is about to crawl it's way out of her, Game of Thrones shadow-baby style.
Enter the medi-pod, "get it out of me!"
Cue soundtrack "Hello Mommy."
OF course, the other possibility is that the creature (I'm assuming the snake/pede/worm) "grows" in organic ways, maybe by going UP there, and then coming back out in a different form.
Either way,
poor Noomi Rapace.
First the Dragon Tattoo movies,
now this.

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 4:53 PMThis is definitely some new "old" ground being covered here. We will all b e waiting for the ubiquitious killing off of the crew one by one, after of course the Alien jumps out of some man or woman's chest and/or stomache. Her comment of this being everyone's worst nightmare may simply be that. Seeing as how these creatures do in fact impregnate you then burst from the womb killing. I can see how faced with this revelation a woman could easily call the act her worst nightmare. talk about pre-post pardum depression.
And of course as always that comment is meant to keep us looking the other way while the tru horror unfolds arounds creeps up, and finally scares the living you know what out of us.

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 5:24 PMI think every woman's worst nightmare is being violated.
Not necessarily sexually assaulted, but certainly having an alien creature growing insid you would be a violation.

I heard from a woman that women really don't like long, poorly kept fingernails with dirt under them. I don't remember her inserting the phrase "worst nightmare" at the time, however.
Perhaps my comment is a bit tangential...

Oooh! That does sound very legit. That would be every father's worst nightmare too. In fact, it is. I know from dear friends’ personal experience. It was utterly tragic. UTTERLY.

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 8:52 PMI took the worst nightmare comment to mean that Shaw was pregnant already and her fetus became mutated.

MemberOvomorphMay-17-2012 4:34 AMany womans nightmare could mean that that kinda alien impregnation and birth violates basically womans nature because what grows in her isnt her and she still has to give birth..
( and maybe theres an alien form that impregnates woman snake-like, youknowwhatimean..) nasty nasty

MemberDeaconMay-17-2012 9:25 AMWell imagine you find out your pregnant....
You would then think ohhhh me and by boyfriend are having a child, she would be happy... maybe...
Only to then find out... well the baby is growing fast! erm you would think well thats not right whats up..
Then find out... oh your baby seems to not be human...
That would freak you out!

MemberDeaconMay-17-2012 9:31 AMSo i am going to go with that a unsuspecting Holoway get her up the duff in that love scene and he does not know he has any infection.
This happens after they get back from the sand storm, i think as Holoway may feel that he nearly lost Shaw, this brings them close together and passionate moment (thus not no Engineer Mind Controll Rape Scene).
A Brused and Battered Shaw (from the Sand Storm falling over, not rape lol) then reports the next day a funny feeling inside of her, and goes to have a scan to check out if she has any potential internal injuries from that accident in the storm.
Thats when they spot she is pregnant.... Shaw may then think ohhh happy days, but something would click.... how can they tell that from less than 24 hours, and surely it cant be from before?
Latter they may then realise its growing fast and then does not look human, and i think this is when the shock hits her. Maybe they dont let her know and they keep her in the dark.
Hence the scene where she lashes out at someone?
Who knows....

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 5:57 PMI believe I read somewhere, Ridley saying something along the lines of
"It was difficult, touching on the subject of RAPE in such a foreign environment...is that microphone on?"
