Army of Spacejockeys

MemberOvomorphMay 17, 20121052 Views16 RepliesVery interesting shots of the spacejockey hologram scene in the Indian featurette. This is the one where we see some classic spacejockeys running away from something but up till now we have been able to make out around four giving rise to much speculation about the jockey/ engineer relationship. This extra footage throws the preverbial cat as you can clearly see an army of them in single file before we see a sublime shot of one hologram passing through David. So there we have it, engineers are definately not related to the engineers....or are they ?

We don't see Engineers running away from anything, period. We see them running, huge difference. they could be running after someone for all you know. Thats what is missing from every tiny clip, the context. It's the right context that makes a great movie, without that scenes die on their arse.
Neither do a few engineers make an Army.
Don't take unvalidated speculation as fact.

Well i guess he is talking about holographic movie that david plays which creates tiny particles in the air showing space jockies running in tunnel to find something. I think they are after some creature they tampered with and want to put it into jar or quarantine it. Something must have gone wrong and these engineers are running after it.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

Thats true we dont know anything more than they are running...
Could they all be running away from something? being chassed by some ravenous creature?
Could they all be trying to escape to their ship, like a evacuation?
Could the ones behind be chassing after the one in front?
We still dont know anything about the Sacrefice Engineer scene, if and i am just assuming now they other are after the one in front and they catch him and sacrefice him.
Its funny this is not mentioned in the so called now 4 people who have seen the movie.....
Thats assuming i am right but i may not be, my point is that scene and the Hologram scene does seem to be a very important one as far as the movie goes and its funny that those who have seen the movie have not described it in any detail at all.
I think one just said, oh a Hologram shows some Engineers running...
No S%£$ Sherlock.... like we cant make that out in the trailers...

I love the speculation on here, but i try to bear in mind that no matter how often speculation is repeated, it's still nothing more than an unfounded rumour. That's why i don't believe the film is ruined in any degree by whats been shared on this forum. However, this film will set a context, motifs, character arcs, and the same degree of speculation on it's sequel probably would ruin things, as we'd knoe those scenes would resolve something we could easily guess at.
I doubt we've seen more than 5mins of the actual film so far (including all of the featurettes and trailers). Two weeks to go :-)
And i won't ruin anything, i won't even say if the movie was any good or not.

@sukkal, totally with you on that joy thing, i have a similar response. I find myself wondering more about how i'll be left feeling/thinking after the film than what individual scenes i see, i just hopr theres not much pandering to fanboys, or if there is any, i hope it doesn't get in the way of telling a good story

@Xenophobia
I realize you're joking; and it's funny. But, just like any other speculation, the suits are not necessarily heavy at all. They could be as light as styrofoam and as strong as steel at the same time.
@Windood
On my own personal journey here in this community, I've come to realize that what this pre-film, Prometheus-centric experience is largely offering me is a little bit of JOY every time my speculation is wrong. I've already learned so much about this film (due to this place and engaging here) that seeing it will be a radically different experience from seeing the original Alien. For that, I had only pre-experienced "a frightening cracked egg" in advance of the theater. For this I know a LOT about what I will see, but it's all scrambled. I'm finding here that every time I'm WRONG, about my own attempts to fill in the blanks, it makes everything more interesting for me. That's what keeps me coming back here day after day.

They are jogging. Workin' up a sweat!..
Afterward, a few bar-bell curls and a relaxing massage...

Maybe if they lost the fucking suits they might be able to A) catch up with what they are running after or B) get away from what hey are fucking running from....SUITS - sheeeeesh!!!!

Firstly ,"Army of" is a figure of speech and I think my comments reflect the blurred connections between what I now to believe are two unconnected species. The big blue/ grey guys which look around 9ft tall are the engineers, we can see that from the cast list. The speculation I referred to was that the four engineers from the cryo chambers donned bio-mechanicals and could be the four classic spacejockeys we see as a hologram. However, this extra footage briefly shows 8-10 classic spacejockeys (14ft tall), not engineers running through the corridors proving, in my opinion, the two interact somehow
