How does SHAW! know they engineered us? i dont get it! shes Christian Catholic right? unless theyve discovered something else but i very much doubt u can assume they engineered us from a Cave painting...but in that clip the way she says it she seems to be dam sure

I doubt Shaw is Christian/Catholic because she is a scientist searching for the origins of mankind. Most likely, she believes in Panspermia or some variation of it. Estimates of scientists from the national academy of science who believe in the bible range from about five to seven percent.

I thought RS or someone else mentioned in an interview that she is Christian. I don't know, maybe she thinks the engineers have answers she can't find in her bible?

Its mentioned she is christian and religious, where as holloway is the scientist type in terms of thinking. So is shaw but she believes in religion too and is on the trip to get answers.. been mentioned many times on this forum

Ask RS dude...She believes and is raised that way...this goes against her beliefs and wants answers hence why she goes to LV233 to get THOSE answers, not the ones she has grown up with NOR the ones she was expectin most likely in the sence that these are evil being maybe?? and not GOD! or godlike...?? all speculation at this point

So Shaw is a Christian but also believes we were created by Alien beings that come from a moon somewhere in Space? It doesn't seem like that leaves a great deal of room for worshiping Jesus and believing he is the son of God and died for our sins. I really hope they delve deeper into this contradiction in the film because it seems like an awful lot of cognitive dissonance for one person to have.

I don't think Shaw KNOWS anything. As much as the presumption of "it's an invitation"- she assumes many things. She is a person who has had faith for her entire life, and she begins to question not her faith- but what she has faith IN. Faith or lack of it can be habitual. When you believe in God, and enjoy the benefit that comes with it, you may start to have great faith in any person's intentions. By the same token, if you have a poor experience with faith, that attitude bleeds over into many aspects of your life. I'm not saying it makes any sense one way or the other, I'm just saying it happens. Such habits are also why people lose or question their faith at some point. Make no mistake people, much of what the scientific community holds dear is as much based on faith as it is proof. Yes the proof is there (don't get up in arms yet!), but not always as much so as something like a video description for every scientific fact. Scientific fact is often times more like "connect the dots", with proven facts dispersed over a well thought out and quite plausible theory. We are all human, and do the best we have with what we got. Both Shaw's and Holloway's characters are in the story for a reason. Both reside at extreme ends of the spectrum in their beliefs, and both are willing to risk everything to prove them. The twist is that they are a couple. Now that's just weird! Little Squiddy is gonna need counseling his whole life!

I think Shaw is Christian, but finds evidence that may contradict anything biblical and sees this as an opportunity to possibly meet her creator(s) or God(s), and obviously wants to take it up. Clearly, things don't go according to plan and it all gets a bit messy.

Shaw is Christian, and the god of the bible is...... Drum role........... Alien. I should say God's because the Hebrew translation makes it clear that it is the Elohim, plural of mighty ones. God is the leader of the elohim and most powerful. So if the sophomore created earth then they must not be from earth right? God IS alien......
