The kill off question

Why do they always choose to kill off the coolest characters In these Weyland universe films?.Parker, Hudson , Dillon ,Christie, and I bet in Prometheus Janek will bite it before credits roll, these characters always seem to me to be like mates you could do the pub with for a quick pint and have a laugh with (well maybe not Dillion as his a murderer but you get my point)

Because its how a story envokes an emotional response from you, if you hated everyone that died you would not feel horror you would feel elation. It is up to the actors/writes and director to make you gain an emotional attachment to the characters they wish to kill, it is not meant to be pleasent for you, when some one you care about you will become agitated and on edge, allowing the more horrific elements of the story to effect you on a deeper level. If they made a film of PeeWee hermans being offed it would be a comdey not a horror

That's what makes them epic. Soon Janek's retirement will be only four weeks away, then we can witness his bloody sacrifice as he takes his place with the other immortals in the halls of uber.
