MemberOvomorphMay 24, 2012I thank god everyday for the R rating, I assume this film is Ridley's own cut, with no interference from the studio..but do you reckon there is a more extreme cut out there, for the bluray?

I have a feeling that we will get a Director's Cut of Prometheus. Seeing as how Sir Ridley is the originator of directors' cuts, it shouldn't be surprising if we get one for this movie.
Speaking of which, I've been watching DVD's on my HDTV recently, and I have a feeling it's time to move up to Blu-Ray. It's easy to see anti-aliasing issues and other graphical things on my HDTV, something I only just noticed....granted, I've been wanting to stick with the DVD format, but I guess it's time for a change. ):

Speaking of which, do we know the actual runtime of the movie. C'mon there are always things cut from films by the studios, or even the director. For all we know, Sir Ridley may have already planned for a director's cut while filiming the movie. He knows that there is always a certain degree of studio interference. I'm already looking forward to the Director's Cut :D

Supposedly, the Blu-ray will include a longer cut, but the shorter theatrical version could just be a result of pacing issues; not explicit content.

@Quietcool
Assuming there is no 'regional' cutting for certification, it's 124 minutes, I've just preordered my tickets at Cineworld (UK).
I really hope there is extra (finished) scenes on the blu ray that were removed to keep the time in check, only time will tell...

yes... lots of goodies.
lots of extras.
lots of cut-out scenes.
including:
Ridleygrams,
Giger sketches,
OST,
mini-games,
set designs,
3d storyboards,
biographies of the characters,
props,
curiosities,
interviews with the actors, Sir Ridley and whoever else is envolved,
a 2h long "making of"....
did I forget anything?

The better the film does in theaters, the more the studio will be willing to spend on DVD extras I'm guessing. David 1 I like your list. It's got me salivating with anticipation. I'd be betting on a Halloween DVD release.

@CrazyDave...I've been thinking the same thing. It seems just yesterday that I sold all my VHS and started a DVD collection. We have a PS3 that plays Blu ray and I've only seen two movies in that format.
If I do get a Blu-ray player or maybe just install one on my computer. I already have the 1080p computer screen anyway.
The first Blu-ray I will buy will be the Alien Anthology. :D

@Quietcool either Halloween or Christmas, what ever holiday is gonna allow them to suck in more money.
Gonna have to switch in my DVD collection and shitty TV before it comes out aswell...

I hope everyone got the Yutani polygraph test, and it gets put on the DVD/Blu-Ray. I can only imagine the questions that will stem from it. NERDGASM.

Not sure what to expect on the DVD/Blueray Extras...
Maybe more insight into the Engineers and their doings...
Maybe even they will have a few alternative endings.

I only recently bought a Blu-ray player & a 37" screen. I only have an old VHS copy of "Aliens". A couple of years ago, I almost purchased a box set of the existing films on DVD, but hesitated because I wasn't too sure about some of the later films in the franchise. I think it's time to find a Blu-ray box set though. I wish I'd saved my copy of Omni magazine which featured a great article ( & some of Giger's artwork )....which came out shortly BEFORE the original "Alien" hit the theaters. LOVED that friggin' movie! The 2nd one too....Not quite as fond of the 3rd ( the prison colony...), and I vaguely remember seeing bits & pieces of a 4th....( Was this the one with Winona Ryder & Ripley's over-the-shoulder basketball shot? ) Then there were some Alien Vs Predator films that I may have seen all chopped up for cable TV. You TRUE fans would be the ones to ask: I'm thinking the first 4 are the essential ones to own......but what about the rest?
