Did you know that Zeta II Reticuli is about 37 light years from our Solar System....make of it what you will lol.

Being at such a crittically close proximity to the Sol System (The Sun) witnin which on Earth we currently reside, that does raise a lot of serious fundamental questions about the Bio-Engineers/SJ's and their original/current intentions regarding 'Us'.

So, in that regard, it may take 37 light years to get there and 37 to get back... Or maybe the signifigance is like I sated in another thread once before, the Monoliths in the Odyssey series by aurthur C. Clarke open up doorways to higher dimensions and to get there they activate the Star gate and it takes about a thousand lightyears going near the speed of light to get to the 'Grand Central Station@ of the 'Galaxies 'traffic' or the 'Universes' for that matter. And thus, to send a message back would take another thousand years. Some 'Gate Ways' only take perhaps five hundred years where as to get to the Alpha Centari System inside which the gas giant Polyphenus resides, in and around which orbits the Earth-like monn Pandora from Earth in Avatar takes roughtly six years at near the speed of light utilizing an 'Ion Drive Propulsion Unit'. So therin lies a clue to your question, there could be some strategic purpose/advantage as to why the Bio-Engineers/Space Jockies have potentially set up shop there upon LV-426.

It's LV-426, which is a smaller planetoid and both orbit a larger ringed body, which could be Zeta2 itself (sun). In real life Z2R is one of the suns, similiar in mass to our own sun. It also is suspected of having a debris disk around it with an orbital duration around Z1R of aproximately 170,000 years. Z2R is 12 parsecs or 39 light years from earth.

Not sure what that means but the fact that in Alien the Nostromo was "just short of Zeta II Reticuli" aka LV-233 just before they landed on LV-246 is interesting. The 2 are very close to one another apparently.

Possible spoiler!
I was reading somewhere else that in the 15 minute footage it states that LV-233 orbits another bigger planet. Could it be LV-426? I know LV-426 was described as a small planetoid so I guess not.
Sorry, I'm sure all this has been mulled over a million times. What hasn't at this point though?
*moderated to get the correct designation of planet, it was never LV-246*

As Dave B Says...
Zeti Reticuli is a twin Star System, and so they are very close to earth other in terms of distances
The distance of Zeti 1 to 2 is estimated to be about 4000 to 5000AU thats close as in terms of Stars..... but not planets Earth to Saturn is about 10AU
So that sounds a massive distance between Zeti 1 and 2...... well not when the Zeti Reticuli system is about 2,466,300 AU Away.
So in terms of a craft that can travel to that system in such a short period of time, then the distance from Zeti 1 to Zeti 2 is small.... so should take like 30 hours tops for Prometheus.
