Is the 'new Prometheus' human or alien?

First, sorry for my poor Englist, I am from Hungary. So, my idea that the title Prometheus is not only referring to the Greek mythology and the ship of the movie but the sacrified Enginner of the firts scene. What if that Engineer IS Prometheus who stole the technology from his masters and his punishment is to sacrifice himself. That is why the Engineers want to destroy mankind, because we are the 'liver' of the sacrified Engineer... I don't know if I was clear enough...

No dude I understand what you're getting at ;-) and I actually think that's the first time that's been thought of too, so good call! Not sure about being the 'liver' because allegedly his whole body melts into the water......................... But it's a good theory ;-)

When I say 'liver' I try to refer to the original myth (from Wikipwdia): "Zeus then punished him for his crime by having him bound to a rock while a great eagle ate his liver every day only to have it grow back to be eaten again the next day." So the mankind is the 'liver' which grows back from time to time...

I'm familiar with the myth ;-) the one problem with that is we aren't eaten by an eagle everyday, although we do tend to kill each other with great abandon.......... But I do understand what you mean ;-)

Well i think David is the new prometheus... He is the one who steal the urn and he is the first one to be "punished" by the space jockey. The only annoying thing to me is that when david talks to the SJ we don't get a translation... So we don't know what he tells him exactly... That sucks...

I'm pretty sure that he just tells ***SPOILER *** what weyland told him to say. That engineer could really be prometheus, maybe. But then we see a spaceship that leaves the planet while it could have stayed.

what did always bother me is that the ship is named prometheus. So blood; what about RS wants to scare the living shit out of us?

Why does there have to be one, specific, individual Prometheus? I prefer to think that there are many: the Sacrificial Engineer, the ship, David, even the rest of the crew... Almost everyone on the Prometheus is there to steal *something*, whether that's knowledge or specific bio-tech.
