Below you will find a link to cool interview with Ridley Scott, sheds some more light on Prometheus, and perhaps its sequels which will answer more questions... http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3146052/interview-sir-ridley-scott-on-technology-prequels-and-how-alien-paradise-became-prometheus/

Chaps, at the danger of sounding arrogant I suggested this a while ago. See my earlier posts. I haven't seen the film either. The holo is the link to lv426. It happened years and years ago. The alien xeno is not created in this film either. They already make them, they have a picture of one on the wall lol. It's just a film though right? Lol.

Nice article and this statement explains it all:
“But how did that ship evolve in the first Alien?” Then I would say “Actually he’s one of the group that had gone off and his cargo had gotten out of control,” because he was heading somewhere else and it got out of control and actually he had died in the process and that would be the story there. That ship happened to be a brother to the ship that you see that comes out of the ground at the end [of Prometheus]. They are roughly of the same period give or take a couple hundred years, right? Other than that, there’s no real link except it explains I think who may have had these capabilities, which are dreadful weapons way beyond anything we could possibly conceive, bacteriological drums of sh*t that you can drop on a planet and the planet…
Yeah it makes perfect sense to me. Something bad happened to these engineers on LV-233 while creating these bio-weapons. They run for their lives as shown in the (hologram scene), one of them leaves in a similar ship...the ship with (eggs), gets impregnated and crash lands on lv-426...others agree..? I like this story...no it's not spoon fed to you, but it is done in an indirect way stating something happened to these engineers...

Yeah why not.. makes sense to me too. And using LV-233 as a planet for Prometheus can be justified by the fact that we never saw any Engineer temples on LV-426 so moving main action to LV-426 would mean Ridley had to give up the temple idea.
