Note: This review has been marked "spoiler-free". Any spoilers posted will be removed (the entire post). -----------------------------------------------------------------and thought I'd offer this: "...a film that special effects could have easily run away with, and run away with it they have. And it's also a mess, at least as far as its narrative is concerned. Almost nothing is explained coherently, and the plot has great lapses, from the changeable nature of one key character to the frequent disappearances of another. Mr. Scott, who made his mark in ''Alien'' by showing a creature bursting forth from the body of one of its victims, tries hard to hit the same note here. The end of the film is both gruesome and sentimental. Mr. Scott can't have it both ways, any more than he can expect over-decoration to carry a film that has neither strong characters nor a strong story. That hasn't stopped him from trying, even if it perhaps should have." The above quotes are from the New York Times review - dated June 25, 1982 - of "Blade Runner." Movie reviewers are funny people.

Haha! Good one. Perfect way to demonsrate that every review is subjective and should be treated as such. Roll on the 7th!

Yep, reviews are very subjective to say the least! I have to say, I had promissed myself I'd be gone from this board from June 1 through 7 (that's when I'll be watching Prometheus as it opens here in Portugal) but I can't keep away ^.^ It's actually quite nice to read this, as some reviews (which I promissed I wouldn't read, but did...) are very negative. As others are very positive! Keeps things in perspective! I've been both anxious for this movie and afraid they'd blew it (being a Lost fan and all, I can see the potential here!) right from the moment it became fact that Prometheus was going to happen. Bottom line is, I guess: don't take the reviews, judge it only after you see it. Glad for all of you who have seen it and liked it. As for those of you who didn't like it, hope you come to change your mind the next time you see it, and if you don't... it's only a movie ;)
