CONTAINS SPOILERS I will start this thread by stating i did have extremely high expectaions about this movie and i feel that it failed to deliver but thats just my opinion what i did like about the move was as follows Visually stunning the the detail in every shot is there for all to see the 3d was used to ad depth to the scenary and is probably the best use of 3d in a movie to date the score again was epic if a little over used in parts michael fassbender brings david to life in a performance that makes you think back to childhood memerioes of pinocchio he does make the charactor feel like a robot trying his best to be human the 1st 3rd of the movie apart from the pre credits sequence which i will get to shortly in dislikes is good it builds nicely up until id say the part just after the storm the birth of cuddles this scene had me on the edge of my seat tense thrilling i was preying for show to get through it in one piece ultimately let down by the appearnce of a baby squid tho now for the dislikes the opening sequences pre and post opening credits after the movie finished i thought back and found the scene with the engineer a little out of context with the rest of the movie and felt that it would have been better suited in maybe the 2nd and 3rd act and used to back up the idea that human dna and engineers dna are in fact the same the scene on the isle of sky to me served no purpose as it was easily explained why the prometheus is heading on its mission 5 minutes later in the ships hold the 2nd act once the crew has found its way ino the head chamber is where the film starts to unravel for me the lack of depth to some of the characters makes me not care what happens to them at all the diaolog is clunky and poorly written plot holes holographs of engineers running around engineers bodies everywhere and no answers as to why i dont need spoon feeding every thing but at least give me a clue the 3rd act the big dissapointment this is where we inevitably meet "cuddles" afetr building the scene up so well to be left with a baby space squid is laughable where was the new iconic alien designed by giger to strike fear into us all for the next 30 years the jockey i can only assume that david told him he had a threesome with his mother and sister as no explaination is given as to why he goes crazy and sets off to destroy earth now there is more id like to say on my likes and dislikes but i think its time you had your say agree or disagree with me tell me what you think of prometheus

Ok where can I start. Dislikes. Act 1 The sending of earth. To simple should have been a little more info Vickers using David as a butler. Bad writing could have been better Build up to understanding more about the cast rubbish rubbish rubbish a child book has better info Holloway death. Rubbish cannot understand why Black goo from amples. And then black goo in amples errrrrre come on what's going on Ace jocky size errrrr to small Why they escaped or running away from something errrrrr they missed a bit The scene with the first face hugger coming out of her I've seen more blood In a evil dead rubbish scene Waylaid scene rubbish no idea why Vickers with her dad rubbish Shaw leaving with David ok scene Shaw being attacked rubbish Big face hugger ok scene So overall this for me is an ok movie but 35 years to make predators was better. I think this movie is a full prequel. Too many reference to alien I mean David, face hugger, bursting through chest, birth of face hugger. I wasn't scared one bit. Ridley said I want to scare the shit out of you and alien did but this didn't Good luck next time Ridley because this movie is below average O and the 3d was shit Spider,an trailer before on this movie looked amazing I mean fucking amazing Dark knight has better pr and better marketing take a leaf out of warners book.

I agree the build up of the movie was great, very good. After the Storm the movies plot was still good, i just think with regards to the time left on the movie that those scenes some never had the flow that they could have. I guess its the things in the Trailers... those scenes in the movies are not really added onto or last longer and i mean the action type scenes. I dont mind the lack of the Alien links.... its left open so we do not know if something that happens to Shaw after the movie or something left on LV223 could eventually lead to Alien and LV 426...... But then it could also happened years prior, especially if you read into the clues... Lindelof likes to be ambiguous, and that concerned me... however these areas was not so much the case... The Hologram, the Ghost Jockeys, the Dead Bodies not explained much but then again, would explaining them in detail spoil the mystrey? There is enough of a hint when combined for us to draw our own conclusions that may be right or wrong... i think that was Lindelofs aim. I feel/felt that the action/fight/death scenes and what happens after could have been explored a little more. Some left me thinking they was like scenes done for a R movie that are then edited out..... maybe not... its hard to explain really.... One scene is..... SPOILER - - - - - The Engineer, like Fifield he just throws his victims about, you only really see David meet a none pleasant end, like how with Fifield the one guy he smashed his fists over into his face.... the rest we just see people thrown about witha glipse of the flying body and thats it... - - - - END SPOILER Other disapointment is i felt more depth needed in some Characters especially Vickers and Weyland and it seemed that maybe there was more to the movie that was left out if you get what i am saying... It felt at times as if maybe Ridley made a 2 hours 40 min movie, then was told by Fox.... sorry but you have to cut out 30 mins odd..... which he then had to do here and there. I know thats not the case, just how it seems, maybe again this is either due to a screen time limit to tell their story and fit it all in, or how Lindelof wanted to add some elements of Ambiguity to certain scenes. Apart from that the movie was good, i think people should understand that i am a fussy critic at time and when i review anything i am one who does not willy nilly give out 10/10's for stuff as thats like Perfection and thats hard to come across. So my 7.5/10 is another persons 8.5/10 If in my oppinion and you know what i am no expert so people do not have to take my view as gospel, just a oppinion that others have freedome to not even consider..... but if the above elements was answered then yes i would say the movie is a 9/10 So maybe my 75% score is harsh.... maybe i vented some concerns because i guess the bar that Alien and Blade Runner set was so high.... thus i guess yes if out of 5* I think 4/5 is about right from me...

if giving a rating id have to go as low as a 2 or 3 out of 10 purely because my expectaions were so so high and left feeling let down maybe this is because i deliberatly avoided all things prometheus as to avoid any idea of the plot so in purely watching the trailer what i saw lead me to believe that this was an alien prequel in which questions from alien would be answered having seen the movie i now know this not to be the case and feel that prometheus without the inclusion of the jockey etc which could have easily been a totally different alien is a visually stunning below par sci movie that has borrowed pieces of a classic movie in order to kick start a new franchise i do agree with you tho the running time was to short and hopefully the sequel should answer the questions ive had burning in me most of my life

5/10 for me. Visualy Stunning. Soundtrack, really liked. Editing seems rushed. Clunky dialog. poor exposition. flat reveals. mind numblimg moments. Shaws just had a baby, and forgets all about it in very next scene. Janek and his crew who just randomly decide suicide is the best option, lets do this!!! yeah!! oh wait janek, theres another 6 ships standing by..oh too late.. Millitary Outpost?! What?! You've just made the biggest discovery known in the universe..right? i know lets have sex whlie we leave 2 of our guys down there for the night. why would you try to stroke an Alien Cobra like a Cat!?! Vickers? And the big reveal, ok, and? Why is David doing that? Why? just some of my issues.......

Ridley did say this is not a Alien Prequel.... I think many did hope it would be, when he said it was not... But then again he did hint at the last 8 movies, as a link to Alien and Alien DNA... And it did, but it was not Xeno and Face Huggers, it was two things we can relate to both of those things...... I think Ridley is in a pickle over this now.... Because he may had placed those DNA moments to give a hint... but he could have hinted less but gave a seen that closed the door as i would had wanted and the scene i said it should had been... that was a Derelict taking off and then we pan to the Cargo of Eggs and see one open, we then see Derelict Crash land.... No Xeno, no Face Hugger, no look a likes nothing... that Derelict never had to be the last Engineer, it could had been flash back like the Water Fall Sacrefice Scene... Problem now is this... If we leave the two Organisms at the end of Prometheus as the explanation well its to vague for some, does not explain how this links to Alien exactly. Thus is this a reboot...? Is it left open for Ridley to do a number 2 where a rescue mission lands on LV 223 and finds what is left from after Prometheus.... if so this would be a little be closer to Alien Franchise... ok it would look different but how different... not enough. Or they explore the other part of the ending.... In which case they have to leave us wondering..... Why did Earth/Weyland not send a mission looking for Vickers etc, and what happened to LV 223 during the timeline of Alien and Aliens.... So the pickle Ridley is in is he may want to go with the other part of the ending of the movie i.e the outcome of Shaw and where she ends up next.... But if Fox feels that the movie had to many critics over lack of answers or more interest in whats left behind, maybe Fox could dictate which of those two possible outcomes from the end of Prometheus gets explored. If they feel that making movies about what links Prometheus to Alien or indeed a new type of Xeno ish Organism is going to make more money than exploring the posibility of more Humaniod Engineers out in the Galaxy and their magic black goo, then i guess they would follow where they feel the Money would be.... SADLY. This could lead to RIP Engineers, and Viva La Xeno La Return... which i hope does not happen...

"mind numblimg moments. Shaws just had a baby, and forgets all about it in very next scene." Yes that was a bit of a worry aswell, not so much thay but other parts... like how Milburn came to a not to pleasant end... they go find him, he is dead someting jumps out of his mouth and they not really that bothered about what it was, the fact there is stuff down there that could do the same to them.... same as with Fifield there did not seem to much of a concern.... or follow up. "Janek and his crew who just randomly decide suicide is the best option, lets do this!!! yeah!! oh wait janek, theres another 6 ships standing by..oh too late.. Millitary Outpost?! What?!" In defence, what could he do, he knew that if he did not stop it that Earth could be doomed, it was a fitting end. He would not have known about the other Ships? There only seemed one Engineer, and i guess faced with letting the ship destroy Earth because of hell, there may be others is not the Logic that many Military people take.... people go to Iraq knowing chances are that peace wont happen, as soon as they pull out its back to sqaure one maybe.. But the soldiers do not look ahead they have a duty, and they perform that. All Janek knows for sure is that he has a potential to stop this one ship, he would know he may not be able to stop it, but he goes and tries to. Just as a Firefighter who goes into a blaze to rescue someone... he knows he could waste time going in and just find dead people, he may be doing that also die himself... but thats not the point the point is their is a posibility they would rescue someone. The only problem i have is, sure Ravel and Chance never had to sacrefice themselves? Surely they could have left... maybe they had a great duty to the captain and would rather die as Heros than escape and then fail to find a way off this peace of rock.... can come across a bit chessy but then maybe not to everyone.

the pyramid was a military base (to experiment with biological weapons), and the creatures were are only prototypes (previous designs) ... in my opinion the real Xeno is the final version of the biological weapon. And no, I do not think it's a reboot...

The film felt like a pg 13 to me and had that kind tone to it to the score wasn't to good in my opinion but fitted the films tone in parts but no brooding mysterious angst filled mystery of the alien universe was in that score.

ok maybe i'm being harsh on the suicidal bit, but it seemed rushed. i so wanted to love this film. got no problem with it being its own thing. but damn, can't help feeling something went wrong in post-production.

I will still buy the blue ray the day its released and that says a lot for the visuals and i pray to the engineers that it has a bigger longer genuine epic cut on the blue ray release.

and what happened with the claw of Fifield? (Freddy Krueger style) ... I say this because I saw a trailer that his mutation is much more advanced and have huge claws on their hands (hangar scene)

I liked it to a degree but left the cinema disappointed mislead by the trailer the film I saw wasn't the film the trailer portrayed since joining this group today I've heard that RS said a100 times it wasn't a direct alien prequel but I'd insulated my self from all things prometheus since i heard it was in develpment as "untitled alien prequel"I did this to avoid any leaks spoilers I wish I hadn't because I would have known going in that it wasn't an alien movie and I wouldnt have let my mind wander at the possibility of what could have been

well there's one myth we can dispel safely and that's the blade runner tie in for those that indulged that particular fantasy.

I think RS decided that HE and HE alone should put the final nail in the already dead franchise that is 'Alien'. In no way could he have been taking this movie seriously and elected instead to give it an absolutely abysmal swansong, with dare I say....... A F*#king FLUTE!!!!!!

My dad used to pull apart movies as I was watching them and it was really f*@king annoying. whatever happened to just enjoying a movie, going along for the ride. if you have a certain ticklist of everything you want in a movie you're only going to be dissapointed. The world is stupid, depressing analytical enough. lighten up, its not twilight, transformers, or battleship. it actually has a story.

Fish When I wrote posted this it was after my 1st viewing of the movie and my anger of being mislead by the trailers into believing this movie was something it wasn't I 1st discovered talk ov this movie when I discovered an "untitled alien prequel" on imdb and as I'd been burned with spoilers before I deliberately avoided all things Prometheus Then when I saw the trailer my mind made certain assumptions about the movie based on what I'd seen not a checklist as such more a hope that after many years of being an alien fan the qustions about that movie would finally be answered but when I 1st saw prom it felt like I'd payed to see a different movie think going to watch star wars and walking into star trek I have since been back watched it again with my ideas of what it would be left at home and I admit I did enjoy it more 2nd time round I do feel it is a missed oppurtunity but look forward to see how the rest of the movies unfold as it does ask some interesting question I wasnt interseted in 1st time because I was so pissed off
