...just run about like that. There must surely be women on this board who've undergone a Casesarian section - who am I kidding? There must surely be men on this board who've undergone hernia operation - hmm, let me try again. The point I'm trying to make is based on the ability of HUMAN SKIN to 'not rip' when it's been small-guage stapled together and then made to do an adrenalic-manic assault course of SAVE THE PLANET. Seriously, wouldn't her guts have just SPILLED OUT down that first frantic corridor?

@FreePlanet I have had two umbilical hernia repair surgeries where I was cut completely open. One of them used a staple line to close the incision. I can tell you that I never felt as though my guts would fall out if I exerted myself. And this was to repair a hole that my guts were actually trying to pop out of. Peace Out!

I should also mention that I have not seen the movie yet. I remember in one of the trailers it appeared that Shaw had a staple line while she was stumbling down the hallway. However, I also heard the the trailers were edited and that she had a different type of post surgery injury in the actual movie. Can't wait to see it.

Kalypso, don't think so, that shit'd be pouring down any cracks when she disengaged the airtight boundary by, say, doing an energetic assault course of pull ups and jumping and fighting and all'a that. Gravity + blood would ensure that she'd be a goner, surely? Bubba, thanks for your input on this thread, I didn't feel like moving at all after my lower abdominal operation, and I mean DIDN'T FEEL LIKE MOVING OUT OF BED i.e. wouldn't dream my stomach would hold if I got up and ran an assault course. Hope you'all enjoy the movie for what it is - remember, it's not an Alien Prequel AT ALL - lazy marketing's to blame for that lie.

Of all the bizarre mutations and transfigurations in the movie that I'm prepared to accept without batting an eyelash, it's interesting that I'm concerned about the "realism" of Shaw's surgery. Is it possible that she used some futuristic medical technology along with the staples? Or is the film cut in such a way that she clearly just stapled herself back together? If she could have applied some Weyland Industries Gut-Glue Tissue Reattachment Substrate (or something) off-camera, I could suspend my disbelief.

g873489, this whole machine was A JOKE, surely. It seemed to be DESIGNED TO BE FATALLY FLAWED -- wonder what it was saying about the Corporate Solution. I digress.
