I mean if you can separate his head from his body and he still has all of the android skills...programming..was the rest of his 'body' just there for cosmetic purposes and make humans more comfortable? ..and just where is his 'brain' stored?

Woah, wait a minute - and this concurs with my 'thesis' that ONLY ANDROIDS LIVE ON EARTH in Blade Runner, and they're playing some sort of Mass Mind Control game ferreting out 'terrorist or renegade replicants' every now and then... Remember David smelling the green slime? Maybe by inhaling certain substances he can process them somehow, so if he inhales he can just as easily exhale just enough to play the few notes on the flute. Thats what I think.
