So..humans & xenos are related?

I always suspected humans were in someway responsible (directly or indirectly) for the creation of the xeno, although admittedly unsure quite how. Anatomically speaking, both upright bipeds, 4 limbs, opposable thumbs, head, torso etc. Too much of a coincidence not to be even plausible. The events of Prometheus have further reinforced my theory. In laymans terms...... Shaw 'gives birth' to squiddy.... Squiddy 'impregnates' engineer..... Engineer 'gives birth' to crude early xeno.... Ergo, shaw is the xeno's grandmother? Am I missing something?

In Alien, didn't they say the crashed spaceship with the xeno eggs was thousands of years old (correct me if Im wrong)? And we have to assume the xenomorphs already existed seeing as there was a statue of one in the tempel. I like the idea that we might be related but I think it's the other way around: engineers gathered xeno DNA and changed it to form us (maybe a mix of xeno/engineer DNA)

No, no time scale was given. Dallas comments the space jockey was fossilised and it looked like it had grown out of its chair

I'm thinking that the accelerated fossilisation process occurred due to a malfunction in the atmospheric regulation system which resulted in the acrid toxic air being prevalent inside the ship, causing the condition of the engineer corpse as the nostromo away team discovered.
