The Predalien, for me, is the epitamy of what's wrong with AVP......The Predators of film and comic fame have dreadlocks that they themselves twist and tie off...this was established in one of the AVP novels, AVP: WAR nthat centered around a woman that joined the predator ranks and learned to fight and hunt as they do: Machiko Noguchi.....
Now, what I'm getting at is just how stupid it is to design an alien born of a predator that naturally has its own dreadlocks upon being born....I'm sorry, but that's a joke........

@David 1 -
Yeh that always made me laugh.
I used to love it when you decapitated someone with the pred's dart gun or disc and he'd do the human imitation laugh. I used to love it when that happened.

It's the part I remembered most lol
Using the cloaking devices for different heat signatures as the pred I did constantly purely out of fanboyness, even if it was unessentail at that current part in the game lol
Engineer Xeno - Chr1sJune 04, 2012
The one and only thing I visually liked from the AVP movies was the PredAlien as it was introduced in the comic and games and was cool being seen brought to life. However, the fact it could orally lay eggs and was like a pred-alien praetorian thing I found a bit crappy. Apart from that, yeh, the films are still sh*t imo.

Games are good, scary. The one like the most AVP 2 marine gold edition.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

"I agree with you on avp2, eating your way out of your host as a chestburster was kinda cool etc,"

Tbh disliking AVP and AVPR doesnt require reasons to dislike, they define crap.
The games were pretty good, I agree with you on avp2, eating your way out of your host as a chestburster was kinda cool etc,
The films are cheesy, popcorn poo, just hollywood spinning money.

True. I even found the comics to be "interesting" at best. I had one where the alien is worshipped.
And if I'm right one of the scenes from that comics made into Alien 4, the scene where a guy gets "foreheadbursted"

their was an extremely good game on PS1....called alien resurrection.....even with those dated graphics it was very scary to play....but extremely unforgiving......a very challenging game....the atmosphere and general environments was just perfect tho!

my fav part of the AVP2 game:

I think dark horse comics derailed a bit with "
Alien vs predator vs terminator" and "Alien vs predator vs superman" or " Batman and Superman vs Predators".
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.
Engineer Xeno - Chr1sJune 04, 2012
The comics I have follow an alternate reality of hicks and newt and they survive alien 3 and encounter a military operation to control xeno's as well as encountering a badly visualised Space Jockey who plans to bio-ravage earth.
I think I have the AVP omnibus collections volume 1 and 2. The stories were quite odd for some of them.

@David 1
Wow talk about nostalgia. That game had moments of raw brilliance and terror. I remember the alien campaign involving resucing an empress queen alien who has been captured by a weyland yutani android exec.

Lol, wow great age analogy.
Yeh the coming of the avp movies truly did act as a sign to the dark days. Gone was iconic horror, to be replaced by B-Movie, hollywood cheese that left a sour aftertaste

ahhh, I remember going blind by the sheer horror of the Predalienjockey...
the horror... the horror...

I just replay AvP2 Gold, loved it. Weyland Android was such a schmuck. The movies were on par with the Resident Evil movies... I really enjoy bad cinema. In fact I have bad cinema weekends once a month... do my art work and watch and listen to all the great action and dialogue. Why did AvP suck so bad; they took aliens for granted, like foxes to the hounds... they (the Aliens) are so much more than targets to collected around one's neck and be declared a adult Predator...

David 1June 05, 2012
Patch:
true... but where were the Space Marines? AVP, ergo SPACE/FUTURE/MARINES

Space Jockey - Chr1s ....the Aliens comic you speak of was THE very first Alien comic produced by Dark Horse Comics and I believe it 1989.....there were two runs, both titled Aliens, The first in six black and white issues has Hicks and Newt become part of a mission to the alien's home planet and earth becomes infested with them; the second in four color issues has them drifting through space and confronting a colonial military oufit planning to use the xeno as a means to retake earth from the infestation......Both were rather good reads and the artwork in the second in fantastic; it's four issue covers are stunningly beautiful and have captivated me since I first saw them on the shelf all those years ago.....
