Its clear this event takes place on a different planet / moon The mural proves the original xeno has been around for thousands of years. Do both species share simular DNA yes but not the same which is a good thing. Now there are to different species to worry about with 2 mouths in the universe ( :

I believe the new Alien we see in Prometheus definitely has something to do with the creation of the Alien from ALIEN. When it's born, you see it's got some kind of sack attached to it (at least that's what I saw) which could perhaps be the beginning of the first egg. Much like Ant queens who have no drone, can create one in the time of need to ensure the survival of the species. Not to compare the Alien to ants as I rather did not like that interpretation in the other Alien/AvP films, but it would be an interesting life cycle addition to note. One that I believe was a concept in the first ALIEN.. that deleted scene with the Alien creating an egg. Anyways, yeah it is a very neat addition to the franchise and brings up so many more questions for sure! I personally can't wait to see what it grows up to be in the next Prometheus. There's not doubt in my mind that they won'd introduce it again in any sequels.

And what will it look like? This is basically a chestburster, so there's still loads of directions they can take the basic design as it matures.

There's a thread with a picture and a GIF on the Spoiler Forum Mungo, use the search bar to find "the new alien" ;-) IF you wanna see it that is ;-)

I've seen the film. The GIF didn't pop up for me with that specific search with and without "speech marks". There are a few life forms in this film, some you see grow up, other only at birth (trying to be a bit vague for kids that haven't seen it yet). When I read Xeno I thought people were referring to the latter. Oops.

This new Xenomorph that we see at the end of Prometheus is exactly that a new, allegedly improved Xenomorph. I will explain soon enough once I have all the facts but heres some hints for you... - The pile of dead Engineers and the Engineers in the hyper-sleep sarcophagi all had holes in their chests, just like the long time dead Engineer on LV-426. Whereas the Engineer at the end of Prometheus has a much bigger hole. - Normally when a Xenomorph is born it comes out as a Chestburster, not fully grown like it does when it bursts out of the Enigineer at the end of Prometheus. - The Engineer born Xenomorph at the end of Prometheus is distinctly different - no ascertainable bio-mechanical features, no four hoses, no dorsal fin, no domed carapace. - The Xenomorph cargo on LV-426 is transported via eggs, one of which overcame the pilot forcing it to crash/land on the planetoid. The Xenomorph cargo is more securely stored on LV-223, inside urns and vials.

No body knows for sure..... its all left open to debate, Lindelof is a fan of Mystrey and the like. As for Ridley, well in what they have done they leave the door open.. They can explore that Organism as the eventual Grand Mother of the Xeno etc... or as a new Organism or even not even touch upon it again..... In the last instance, it mearly gives us a indication that a series of events to do with the Black Substance can lead to the creation of a Organism that is simular to the Xeno.... This would then or should allow us to assume that a sligtly different set off events could create a simular Organism a long time in the past. Thus the combination of these means that a Prometheus 2, 3 or 4 etc etc may never ever visit or explain the Xeno or this new Organism. We just dont know.... Or they could go the route to explain the Xeno more in another movie but explain it happened years ago..... Or even that the Organism in this movie does become the Xeno Mother at some point.... for this it would require a Engineer to come back to LV 223 or indeed some Humans to do so.... The movie is left very very open..... The suptile clues could indicate the Xeno being around for longer.... The Mural? maybe, maybe not unless this can tell the future? But we see in this movie that the substance the Engineers have when misused can create through a series of events a Face Hugger and Xeno type Organism. We see the Engineers running way from something...... so maybe some experiment/creation went wrong or got out of hand? We see the sarcophagus have holes at Engineers Chest Level in 3 of them, this could hint that something Chest Busted from those Engineers a long time ago... The Carbon dating on the head/body for 2000 years ago, is a way of giving us a hint that when the S%£$ hit the fan for those Ghost Engineers it was about 2000 years ago, if this is to be assumed to be the Xeno then that would also give reason as to why the Derelict on LV426 landed years ago....

It makes sense that the xenos existed long ago. Perhaps the engineers found them and decided to use them for developing bio-weapons much like Weyland/Yutani wanted to do in ALIENS. And like the human attempts the xenos broke free from the engineers and went on a rampage. This could explain the urns and the new organism as products of their experiments. Similar to the xeno but much different due to the engineers' manipulation. Just a thought. I could be completely full of it. lol

So if the Xeno we are talking about is the one in the last few seconds of the film I'm saying that it should be compared with a newborn chestburster, or the 'three month old' Shaw-baby. Its going to do a lot of growing and we don't really know what its going to look like yet. Its probably going to be massive.

The pile of dead engineers with bones bent outwards screams classic xeno The mural showed a xeno for sure whether or not it was the new one rocking the goblin shark mouth im not 100% I enjoyed prometheus but i went in search of answers rather than just inviting more and more questions
