Looks like we will have many disc's and tid bits from the films and Extended Scenes that were not in the movie but no Director's Cut....
Good or Bad?

WHAT??? Now I'm really looking forward to the commentaries on the blu-ray.
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!
June 05, 2012
Yeah, same here, there will be many disc's about the making and all but I guess like the Alien BluRay, there might be a separate disc with the extended scenes that were cut...
Probably will come out before the end of this year, It's up for presale on Amazon already...

I don't get this...I'd love to see them explain why this movie is so 'bold' and 'stylistic', just like Lucas described his prequels.
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!

Could be that Damon rubbed off on Ridley...gave him the Lucas itch? Or did Scott lose focus because he was too involved with the SFX and tech for the film?

I think just lies now. Why?
Because he and Fox wants to sell as many copies of the cinematic version of DVDs and Blu-Rays. Then maybe 2 years later we will get a directors cut / extended edition, just like he did with ALIEN many years later or James Cameron with AVATAR.
I'm sure there will be a director's cut sooner or later.
June 05, 2012
Yeah, I can see that, release the standard version, wait 2 years and come out with the 100 disc collection with an Engineer Figure or Derelict Space Craft that holds the DVD's for you...
Yeah., FOX is raping us with the marketing...
June 05, 2012
I don't believe that. Eventually (IMHO) RS will see the things he could have "fixed" and will do so.

Hello folks!
New to the forum here, but I don't believe for one nano-second there won't be a directors cut of this made available on DVD. I may just wait until it's released to buy the movie.
Not sure what's up regarding all the negativity surrounding this movie. I guess it's not living up to all the lofty expectations. My expectation is that this is a Ridley Scott science fiction film. That's all I need to know. I have not seen it yet, but will on opening day here in the US, Friday. I know it will be head and shoulders over MOST the genre films that have come out since Blade Runner. Ridley is the MASTER.
I didn't think Avatar was all that. Dances with Wolves in space.
Cameron has lost it.
Anyway, yes, the studio will be milking the fans when it comes to DVD releases. You can either wait for the director's cut or succumb to temptation to buy BOTH versions....
June 05, 2012
Yeah, no way there's no director's cut. That's half the reason why DVD's sell. I personally have 3-4 different box sets of Alien franchise just because different cuts and deleted scenes were included on each

There will be a director's cut. But not until after they have milked the theatrical cut DVD first. You can tell by the editing that a lot of scenes must have gotten trimmed from the final cut.

quotes from the kermode interview
Is there a longer cut coming?
In his interview on the BBC Radio Five Live Kermode & Mayo Film Review programme last Friday, Ridley Scott did confirm that there were things he'd left out that he'd like to have included. He hinted towards a longer cut in the offing. Presumably, he's got a fair bit of material that could, and perhaps should, have fleshed out the second half of the film.
June 05, 2012
@takka...I agree. RS is very shrewd. He'll wait a couple of months before he starts dropping hints of a Director's Cut Blu-Ray. Right now his only concern is herding us into the movie theaters.

i was surprised to learn that Pietro Scalia did the editing for this he's normally dependable but on this you feel he was editing with a chainsaw.
June 06, 2012
yeah that was the consensus before the general public have had there say i mean we were told there were no xenos in this film and a host of other porkies . Once the usa have seen it and spoken their minds there could be a change of heart on that one and every last scrap of cutting room floor material may miraculously find its way into an extended edition on dvd/blue ray.

That's a tough question to answer. Still haven't seen it but with the Kingdom of Heaven DC being perhaps, or rather pretty much, the most significant DC ever assembled it would be hard not to want one. The whole deal with that was that Fox wouldn't let Ridley do what he wanted to do. It seems they did with Prometheus. To me it seems Ridley does better with resistance and from what it looks like there wasn't much with this film.
I'll have to comment further when I see it.
