I have two questions to you. First, you must already have seen the leaked image of the Last Engineer: [img]http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120604120003/avp/images/b/b7/12555733_shot0003.png[/img] Not having seen the movie yet, I wonder about one thing: does the merc really hits him with one or possibly two shots from the pulse rifle and he cames intact of it? How could his flesh and bones sustain a direct impact of a high power kinetic projectile in the head (the place any good trained merc would shot seeing the armor), and yet be chestbustered by the xeno? The second question: is the skull at the top of the temple ever adressed in the movie other than being shown in the storm scene? Does anybody remarks it? Is it somewhat explained? Thanks!

no merc can shoot in the head a moving target ... every military is trained to shoot in the triangle formed by the shoulders and the lower chest . the bullets probably do minor injuries ..but a living thing exploding from the inside rip him apart No explaination for the awesome skull at the top of the temple

@db73 I think the answer is trivial: I´m posting this at the spoiler section and don´t mind to know the answers before seeing the movie. It´s not like Prometheus is the Sixth Sense, you know. And I think the visual experience is something totally different and worth going thru even knowing the plot.

@Frantz, Thank you for taking your time to answer, but actually a cursory search in the internets will reveal a lot of pages trying to taught you the secrets of shooting moving targets. I really can´t believe this is not a traditional training step in military drill, specially if the guy is retired spec-ops (the raw material from what Weyland would most likely be keen to hire).

In the case - the guy shoots at it at least one with apparently no effect what so ever. I think the engineer recoils a little if I remember correctly. There is no explication for the skull aloft the temple. It's in there because giger designed it previously and for reasons best known to the film makers.

@db73, Thanks! I really find very weird that nobody seems to see the skull as a omen that nothing is quite as they expected. In most cultures the skull is a symbol of warning.

The engineer doesn't get hurt because he's basically space Jason in this movie. The skull is never addressed or remarked upon by anyone, which seems odd in the sense that if I were in charge of a mission like that I would probably say something about the giant freaking skull on top of the structure. I mean, if nothing else, it's a conversation starter. The only thing I can think of is that it's another example of the crew's selective memory like the whole Raptor abortion thing that noone ever mentions after it happens.
