MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 2:31 PMSo Ridley has loads of films to make in the pipeline. Blade Runner, Moses, another one can't remember and now the 2nd and 3rd Prometheus. Not trying to be morbid but let's hope he has enough time to get them all made and released! Keep her lit Ridley!

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 2:33 PMI agree, I was going to mention that but felt compelled to be a more gentler, kinder person and withhold the obvious.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 2:40 PMWell didn't mean it in a harsh way. More realistic than anything.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 2:44 PMNo your not, we are all thinking it. I really hope he gets the BR2 done first though.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:06 PMI thought Spielberg was directing that Moses movie. Anyway, let's do the math, shall we? If one assumes BR2 takes two-three years production time -- Sir Ridley will be 77 when it's released. Then three more years after that, Prometheus 2 comes out, I think he will be 80 by the time of it's release.
So, I sincerely hope those are the only two projects on his plate!
Presumably, he'll want some years to just kick back and do nothing! He seems to be in good health for his age though...by all outward appearances.
If Cameron would step away from Avatar, maybe he could direct a Prometheus film? Just a thought....Or maybe his brother, Tony, could?

MemberDeaconJun-05-2012 3:07 PMLets hope he lives long enough to get a 100th Birthday Card from the Queen/ or King.... ;)
Pray he can make those movies and pray harder that if he cant that Lindelof does not inherit them lol.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:09 PMIf, and that is a huge if, there are any sequels to Prometheus I can pretty much guarantee that Scott and Lindelof won't be involved. Scott may get a creative consultant or producer credit, but that's it. And the sequeal will be done on a way lower budget if the studio greenlights them at all.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:20 PMYou're assuming Prometheus will be a box office flop. I don't think that will be the case...not by a long shot!! There is much more riding on the success of Prometheus than just a sequel, btw. I doubt we'll see another serious attempt at an original hard core science fiction film in our lifetimes if this fails. Excluding Blade Runner 2 of course...

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:23 PMYeah I really doubt Scott will be doing a sequel if there is one.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:29 PM@PrivateHudson Prometheus will likely not be a total flop, but let us be real about this. It is a rated R science fiction film opening in the states a week after its European release with many middling to negative reviews. Any one of those factors alone would be enough to hinder its performance. The industry measure for a successful film is if it earns 3X its production budget. The last "different" rated R film to come out with a budget as big as Prometheus and mixed reception was Watchmen.

LOL! I don't mean any disrespect, but FOX and Lightstorm are going to follow the €$¥£ on that front. :•D

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 4:08 PMas an american that has seen it already, i have doubts it will do that well in the US box office. i think it will be lucky to break $200M

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 4:32 PMPerhaps his senility explains the plot issues with the movie?

MemberDeaconJun-05-2012 6:10 PMI dont think its a case of if the movie is a flop or not...
If Fox feel that the ambiguity of this movie and maybe lack of Direct Alien links, Face Huggers and Depth of Characters is what may have held this from being a Masterpeice and Huge hit...
Then if they feel if those things are fixed for Prometheus 2 then Fox could allow for a bigger budget if they feel that those things will make it make more cash than Prometheus.
We dont know yet how well Prometheus will end up doing....
If Fox want Prometheus 2 to be about the Proto Xeno from the end of the movie and a story of how it then goes on to acount for Alien and they feel this will make more money...
Then if Ridley wanted to do Shaws travels to find out why Engineers created us instead...
End of the day i think Fox make the final choice, and if that means no Ridley if he wont play ball with going a Promethues 2 being a prequel to Alien then they would just get someone else in...
I think a Prometheus 2 can explore more than the done to death Xeno, but maybe give some more hints to what/why/when happened on LV 426

MemberDeaconJun-05-2012 6:12 PMWell i would love a Prometheus 2 to have Ridley work with either Peter Jackson or JJ Abrahams...
But those could be working on well rumoured to be by next year a Halo Movie and Cloverfield 2.

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 2:32 AMRidley isn't making the 2nd and 3rd promethues. Only blade runner. He has 30 directors plus his son under his umbrella firm. He's going to pass the torch on.
