Xenomorphs EVERYWHERE; facehuggers EVERYWHERE on EVERYTHING; constant chestbursting - even the ship's budgie gets burst; everybody gets splashed with ACID; lots of pipes all over the place that look like aliens; ALL of the crew are robots - surprise surprise - and get their heads knocked off; Lance Henrikson shows up AGAIN, insisting he's not Weyland; and they blow everything up from space AGAIN)
Utter rubbish.
Now: relax, and enjoy :)

Unfortunately that seems to be what lots of people actually want:

i didn't want aliens, or even alien.
my expectation was "dark 2001"
i got...
cynical sequel setup, using tricks that "making of alien" material specifically explains is insulting to the audience.
its possibly the trailers that ruined it, since the bits i did enjoy i'd already seen.

There's a budgie?!! Is it foul-mouthed?...
Vickers: "TAKE US HOME!..."
Budgie: "*AWWWK!* Sit your ass down, b*tch! Sit your ass down, b*tch!..*AWWK!*"
Janek: "Uhmm..............."

People don't hate on it because it isn't more of the same.
I wasn't Expecting Alien Episode 1.
People hate on it because the plot is ridiculously thin and badly written. Because the acting is rubbish (but you can't really blame the actors for that but rather their thin parts and complete lack of character development).
Because every dollar was spent on the visual aspects and nothing on the actual writing. There's too many plot holes and inconsistencies. The soundtrack is not appropriate.
The pseudo-intellectual/phylosophical subplot is completely humanised which doesn't work in the universe. An alien is most unlikely not going to act like a human. And maybe it would pose other questions than a human would. It had some potential, but they only scratched the surface, thus only adding a thin sub plot to add to the confusion of an otherwise already poorly edited movie (obviously there are scenes missing).
None of the above have anything to do with Alien(s) but are still grounded reasons as to why this movie is a travesty.
For me personally, yes they do AS WELL shit on the complete Alien and Space Jockey legacy by making it something entirely human.
Stop hating on haters when their hate can easily be validated. This movie is good when you turn of your brain and enjoy pretty 3D pictures of Iceland.

LoL. Yeah, I'm sure you'll find that waterfall in Scotland. I will stick with Dettifoss - Iceland though.

The freakin' trailers make it clear that the engineers are humanoid and that their elephantine accoutrements are just that: accessories. You see them being strapped on in the chair, for criminy's sake! Guess some folks somehow managed to never see any of them........

JDOG dont talk for PEOPLE ...its still 87% people liking it on rottentomatoes... ,,,,so say "few people hate it" ...

This has nothing to do wit their appearance as humanoid (though frankly, what an uninspired choice as Alien certainly featured a fossilised exoskeleton...).
Clearly you have little concept of what humanisation means? Never mind, that's probably why I didn't like it and you did.
And no I didn't watch the trailer because they present a false image of a movie these days. Clearly, reading through this very board, this movie is a case in point apparently.

This movie had a 10/10 rating on IMDB before it even came out. Also, RT has critics review and critics are receiving it well because it is just that, a summer blockbuster. There are more people on this board who don't like it than there are fans (and most of the "fans" apparently haven't even seen it).
You're allowed to like it, by all means. But don't be confrontational with semantics like that. There's plenty of people on here who don't like it (to use a strategic phrase).
