Why are you guys posting reviews made by others? Are you trying to drive up the positive review count? Sorry, but the movie is still rubbish.

xeno:
movie critics seem to mostly agree this is a good (or great) sci fi. I think most ppl consider this a bit more weighty than a few fans who pine for a remake of Alien.

PS! "drive up the positive review count"? Is anyone actually having a competition :) :) ?!

what makes a good review?
it seems in your case north a good review is something you agree with you'll find many good reviews in the liked and disliked section of this forum i found free planets hoopermans and big daves to be amongst my favourites all good reviews with very different takes on the movie
and just to clarify after the 1st showing i really disliked the film but have since gone back to see it again and i like it for what it is a good sci fi movie
hoopermans review hope you enjoy

and just for the record there is a bit of a race going on between the liked and disliked boards to see who fills 4 pages first

mr pest:
a good movie review for me is one that tries to stay objective, deals with certain criteria relevant to this particular form of art, and is well written. Positive review for prometheus abound and i could have posted a whole bunch in here but i try to post what i see as good review. If i was interested in posting a good negative review of Prometheus I wouldnt do it on this board as there exist a seperate board for that :)

Pooprubbish joined the 2 june ...ozinha today ...just to bash the movie ... double accounts ?
btw 87% of people on Rottentomatoes like it and 78% of critics
June 06, 2012
well out of the negative reviews you have read how many of them would you consider good reviews?
it just seems to me that because you like the movie your posting reviews that you agree with implying that anyone who doest agree with your take on the movie is infact wrong some how for not sharing your view
June 06, 2012
your missing the point frantz how many people have seen this movie and how many people have rated it? your taking your statistics from a very small demographic
the only thing you are doing by keep going on about rotten tomatoes is that PEOPLE WHO USE ROTTEN TOMATOES LIKE THE MOVIE which is at current count 87% of 35,000 people so your telling me only approxametly 28,000 people out of the hundreds of thousands who have seen it like it
is it not possible the people who dislike the movie simply dont go to sites like rotten tomatoes and rate movies the perhaps just come to sites like this to BITCH about it
just because i joined 5 days ago does that mean im not entitled to an opinion?
i originally joined this forum to see if other people like my self were dissapointed by the movie i have since had some good conversations with people like your good self who convinced me to go and see it again and im glad they did
its not the greatest movie ive seen but its sure as shit aint the worse either
June 06, 2012
Bearing in mind Huffington Post is a hive of pseudoscientific nonsense itself, the fact that they like it really doesn't surprise me.
June 06, 2012
@Frantz I think you mean 77% of critics.
***note it jumped back up to 78% later today, it seems to fluctuating between 77-78%
The Metacritic has jumped from 58-61% as well.

I'm a huge fan of RS work, but this is an abolute dogs dinner of a film. I was desperately disappointed and was expecting so much more. No suspense, plot holes, no character development. Where did they put their helmets? Did they leave them at the entrance to collect on the way out??
On the pantometer, it scores a huge skiddy scorch mark!
On the plus side Fasbender is brilliant as David. Watch the David 8 trailer - brilliant and free!

I am getting the impression some people wanted avp3 or alien 2.
I have yet to see the movie, but I'm not so invested in the Xeno. There have already been six movies with the thing, and it doesn't do it for me anymore. I am happy to see something different, and I have never been disappointed by RS.. After all, the Xeno is on a Disney ride for goodness sake.

Tokyokid... right on the money with your comment. I haven't seen the film yet and I was hoping this was not another avp3 or alien 2... I'll be very pleased if I never see another xeno again. Maybe... and just maybe if something else was created that was far superior to kill off that race of overused corporate Hollywood crap to get money from my pocket. Which, BTW happens when I go to Disneyland as well. Mickey always seems to have his hand in my pocket.

Mr. Pest:
what i consider a good review: one that objectively handles the movie on its own merits using the relevant criteria. It should be well written.
Most of the movie critics have given Prometheus positive reviews, but among the negative ones I find that The Guardians review was a good review. If you want to post it on the negative review board feel free. I'm mostly here on this forum to share my excitement over a great sci fi movie with fellow geeks.
As for fan review i've read very few well written negative review. Most of them are based in highly subjetive criteria not to mention personal expectations and an unhealthy feeling of ownership over the artist. My favourite example of the latter phenomenon in internet geek-culture is the hoards of angry adult males that gave The Phantom Menace a storm of negative reviews saying it lacked the magic of the original star wars, the dialogue was crap, the acting horrible etc etc. They forgot 2 things very easily:
1) 10 year old boys loved the phantom menace in much the same way those angry adults had done at their first viewing. Lucas made the movie for the kids....the adult geeks dont own him in any way.
2) The original star wars had crappy dialogue and even worse acting.

Here's another take from someone on HuffPo who is just aggregating the realities of what the critics are saying.
It is amazing to me that there are so many folks on here who just want to bash bash bash, though.
Is it therapeutic for you?
