I did not see the movie so the Engineers are humanoid? So corny. I thoughty they looked like the Space Jockey.

They are creepy and don't look like a giant man-elephant... Yes, this is true... They are cold and lifeless where emotion (human) is concerned...

The Engineers look like the Space Jockeys only after they "suit-up".
Probably the most controversial point of the film, but the SJ was just a big fella in a bio-mechanical suit...

Yup, so in lieu of the Space Jockey we get the Space Imhotep. I thought we were in for an Alien prequel, not a Mummy Re-re-returns. After part 3 got inexplicably moved to China, it only hasn't been done in space yet, till this movie. Kinkier Star Trek with a Giger twist. There goes yet another great mythology...and it had so much potential. Far as I can tell it's not even the much-maligned 'Lof who came up with that genius concept of reducing the Space Jockey a.k.a. one of the greatest movie beings of Otherness, ever (Lovecraft got that bit down sooo right in At the Mountains of Madness) to a darned Space Imhotep, it was Spaihts' genius idea - he is saying he wants to script a Mummy reboot next (nudge nudge wink wink, so I wonder where he got the evil-half-divine-guy-raises-from-long-sleep-in-sarcophagus-but-looks-almost-human-yet-more-coldly-evil idea, that innovative resident genius to end all geniuses). But where were Ridley's eyes and ears whilst all this was happening?
anyways, by now my expectations are so low (steaming pile of xeno dung level), I'm hoping against hope I may in the end somewhat enjoy it. Imagine it were a standalone story, now I know it certainly destroys the SJ myth. Will see it tomorrow, IMAX - I say, if it blows, let it blow in style!

And yes, somebody, anybody, PLEASE PLEASE tell me that flute bit - as in flying a Derelict by playing a flute - isn't true...no Legend of Zelda in the Alien universe, pleeeeeeeaseeeee...

Ugh...god...put the trunk masks back on...the faces creep me out...

The flute bit is also true. I'm not great on Greek mythology (and this film seems to be heavily into it)... I recall as a child seeing Ulysses 31, (a sci fi version of the old greek story). Where somone plays a flute that opens a box that contains both a map and a monster. In the scene in Prometheus, when the flute is played it activates a star map, not the ship's engines.

I wish the engineers wouldve gotten more screentime, their appearences where really astonishing and beautiful. You could feel that they're something greater, older. They were the best thing of the movie, well the 2 minutes they were in.
I wish I knew what David said to him, and what made him go berserk. I have to critic Ridley Scott and the promo team, because first, they did show us excerpts from every scene in the trailers, there wasn't much of a surprise. Second, it wasn't as bloody as I thought it would be.

And by the way, that's the xeno that bursts OUT of the Space Jockey... wait till you get a load of what impregnated him.

that must be the baby queen. it has the same shape 'crown' head as the one in aliens. just under developed. that would explain the eggs on the ship?
