Imagine this with Giger's designs.
Get Chris onboard, and it is likely Richard D James A.K.A Aphex Twin will be involved, imagine this sort of sound design with Giger's works:

We've been there and seen it all when it comes to action, if they are going to take the more mainstream, dumbed down route then go with Cameron, if they want to mess with our heads and give us an immersive experience in all areas then we need Cunningham onboard, his attention to detail is akin to Ridley Scott back in 79, the next best thing however is Fincher.

If Cunnigham did it, it would be a totally different film, and then people would probably moan about it being too stylistic.
Which seems to be the main thing prompting this. Style.
I could go well into Cunningham's works, but don't forget in their majority they are usually Visual AND audio pieces. Which he does very well. However rarely relying on dialogue as such.
There's so much more to it. Not everyone can be pleased. Much as they have probably felt let down by the original director not producing what they had hoped for.

@Svanya
I swear the guy in the video's head looks similiar to the mutant fififeld concept art head in Prometheus.

James Cameron is out of the question... he's corny, and only good for shitty blockbusters that are predictable and lack depth. It was lucky that he directed aliens before he got really bad... but even that showed the beginnings of what he is now. Any sensible director would have smashed the writer for the line at the end of aliens 'not bad for a h- human'. So, soooo, corny.
Ridley Scott is amazing, perfect, and gets the alien universe, and anyone else who would replace him (though there is no reason to replace him) would have to be the same.

I want the guy from XFiles to write the screenplay
For visuals, Giger and the dude that makes Tool's videoclips.

Are you serious Elephantman? As if this movie isn't mainstream? It's a summer popcorn blockbuster for christs sake.

@chargeandgo
"Smart thoughts hear I in this thread" (Joda voice). :)
I totally agree with you. This guy will ruin the whole idea, mystery and depth of the original Scott's idea.

CHRIS CUNNINGHAM ROCKS!
I am 100% with you!
Nobody could do it like him... thats for sure.

YEAH, forget Cameron.
Sure - Aliens is an outstanding masterpiece.
Cameron did some interesting movies.
BUT .. but .. but
what did he do the last decades?
Hmm..
Titanic... nice to go to cinema with your wife, but not for ANYTHING else..
Avatar ... come on folks, this is "indians and cowboys in space", but i dont like that movie so much .. disney-like sci-fi-opera
Underwater....boring to death, even did forget the title
no, cameron is OUT.

@ElephantMan: agreed! Cunningham (i feel) would be a GREAT match
to what ALIEN / PROMETHEUS have given us. i think his specific style
is what is needed should Scott choose not to helm the sequel if there is
to be one(?)
i mean,

I want Tyler Perry to do any sequels that may or may not come of Prometheus.
