when american gangster was released there were 2 editions of the film simultaneously released together on the blue ray/ dvd i'm hoping that's the case with prometheus.

What makes you film they didn't release all the footage? Scott talked about many scenes that didn't make it into the film (like David in a certain person's dream) but he made it clear that those scenes were cut before filming.

Yeah, this is sort of predicated on a rather bizarre assumption. Editing a second or two off of a scene for pacing isn't the same as leaving out significant chunks of plot, characterization or exposition, so I don't understand what's expected here.

Ridley did say that they cut out some of the more graphic and gore scenes.
The pupose being that a movie that is 15 has more potential viewers than a 18....
So maybe the USA come last, but they may get those cut gore scenes as the movie was rated for R in the States....

You'd have to cut a massive chunk to make it better! You'd need to lose all ill conceived bits like the head re-animation and auto C-section device and once that's done all bits with "NEW HIGH CHEEKBONE RIPLEY" doing amazing athletic stuff with the odd stomach grab!
Rip it up and start again!

usually a director's cut is a marketing idea to re-sell better the same movie with some extra scenes .... however that is a bit different regarding Ridley Scott movies , some were by far better with the extra footage .
Again dont think that were cut extremely gore , erotic , sexy scenes because are not part of Ridley Scott cinematography .

"The film is violent and tense but Sir Ridley - who has been an outspoken critic of the current rules of film ratings - insists he "cut as much he could to open the film to a wider audience."'
"It has to be about the movie, so I've made concessions. There's a moment where you don't want to harm the movie."
"But he acknowledges its a case of simple economics and getting an 18 certificate "could be the difference of $80m or more"".

Well Ridley said in another interview that some stuff had to be cut so it could make a 15 cert....
This would make sence to explain the very boring and odd accounts of the Fifield and Engineer attack scenes...
I mean why did they CGI Fords face just to have her thrown across the room, the Engineer took like 10 seconds to throw 2 people about....
Hopefully that means something else happened in both scenes that had to be cut due to being too graphic and thus we will see that on DVD.
