Yes, the same parallels apply as well with the first reviews of Bladerunner as well. I think we're watching history repeat itself. Throughout my life I've watched the same thing occur with Jimi Hendrix, the electric works of Miles Davis, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Dylan's switch to electric instrumentation, you name it. At some point almost everything you love and revere was hated by someone who thought s/he was hip, only to find out later what was "so wrong" was really a revolution of sensibility. At some point we'll all be writing about a time when people wrote bad stuff about Prometheus. Negative reactions have been true to form. At some point folks will figure out that the Prometheus they have in mind is not the one that was on the screen. This always happens when major artists shift paradigms.

You could quote mine a whole bunch of reviews on a lot of films and get exactly the same result as this using hindsight.
There is only one thing that will show if Prometheus really is what it claims to be....and thats TIME.

This was interesting info today. Look at Gladiator and Black Hawk Downs ratings and I thought those movies were awesome.

Great thread..."you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone"...
And, you know art is always appreciated more with time, even posthumously...
