Sequel Plot Implied By Ending

When Shaw takes off with David in a Juggernaut ship to go to the Engineer's homeworld, the idea that they would be happy to answer her questions instead of kill her on the spot seems ridiculous. The logical thing would to fly back to Earth and warn everybody about the weapons on the planet, then fly back and nuke it all into oblivion. After we destroy those particular alien weapons, it would make sense to then find the Engineer homeworld and nuke the crap out of it as well, since these guys are dead set on exterminating us. But this is not the direction it goes in, but instead we have Shaw acting as if the Engineers on the homeworld will be friendly, which is what they have to be if you want a sequel, otherwise it would only last 5 minutes - Shaw lands the ship, gets out and introduces herself, Engineers kill her with David's head, the end. But, we know that's not going to happen. Shouldn't Shaw have told Earth that there's a stockpile of alien weapons on that planet and these aliens want to exterminate us? Isn't that what anybody in their right mind would do?

How far would you go to get the answers you seek? What would you be willing to do?

Her ship is stock piled with the urn's containing the infamous "black goo", a substance that they feared so much they stored on a completely different planet. I Think they'll be willing to listen given those circumstances, after all she could black-mail them somewhat and if they didn't listen then she could release it all on them. What use is going ALL the way back to earth when you have the firepower,(firepower likely significantly more effective then any humans would possess) to strike before they have time to. She is better off going to their planet and trying to use david to communicate, she can release the goo if she needs to, and who knows if the engineers are even still around? what point would there be in going to earth and coming back to find they are already all dead? I mean if there were others still around whats stopping them going grabbing a ship and finishing off mankind? and we don't know that she has any way of communicating with earth from her position..certainly nothing we possess now would be capable of warning earth quickly. Who know's if they could even survive a journey to earth from lv233 on that ship.

well maybe for the average person. but the big theme in this movie for shaw is that she has faith. so she believes it will be ok

I can see that concept about finding out and getting answers because she has those urns. But what strike me as very interesting is the part of the warehouse that stored all those urn before the main command center. How come those urn didn't hatch? Also I seriously doubt those humanoid home planet even realize the importance of those urn given the fact that those guys were there for over 2000 years before they were discovered by Prometheus.

Maybe she will land it, sacrifice herself or try to run (crashed ship in alien) but doesn't get away in time and the alien liquid will spread on that planet (killing engineers, or they run away). She sends a signal and Ripley and the rest of the crew answer, thus you have alien. Just speculation though.

I think they should come out with a book first, giving some more background information on the Engineers, maybe even exploring the language of the SJ's language.

Your also talking about a military installation with military class engineers, supposedly anyways. Maybe the engineers on their home planet will be more willing to listen, or perhaps she'll meet "god" there. But wait what's that? You brought that black shit back here with you, oops and then all hell breaks loose there.

@ ALIENDNA ..But wait what's that? You brought that black shit back here with you, oops and then all hell breaks loose there. LOL i found that funny. its likely whatever happened 2000 years ago caused serious damage to the SJ race, given they havent come to collect or destroy their missing goodies or found another way to destroy earth given 2000 years to complete their mission.(those jockeys really think long term though huh) Likely the SJ world is a mere shell of its former self for running amok with xenos. One thing that bugged me,was david , he had enough time to know that there were other ships and could have possibly read the sj logs and knew what their true mission was. He doesnt share this or does he(everyone wants their parents dead) anyway personally i think he switch sides for team SJ

Oh, I forgot that the ship she takes might be loaded up with black goo already, that's very possible, so yeah, she could screw with them if she wanted to. My guess is that she will find the friendly ones who are like the good angels that are fighting the "dark" angels, and then the third part of the trilogy would be finding their "god."

Is it possible that the ship that Shaw and David take off in is the one that crash landed on lv426? Maybe Shaw is infected and spawns a queen that drops all the eggs in the original movie...

@August-- i was digging on that theory as well-- its just still so suspect that the carving on the wall of the temple realllllly looks like a Queen. None of the characters even comment on it do they? Just start notcing the murals changing, the storm approaches and all hell breaks loose...

I actually have an updated theory that a coworker and I were discussing. When the Prometheus first lands on LV-223 there appear to be several of those mound structures that imply there are more than the two Engineer ships that take off during the film (The one that crashes, and the one that Shaw and David take off in). I believe David said that there are "more ships" as well before he and Shaw took off in one of them. Is it possible that the proto-alien that emerged from the dead Engineer at the end, was in fact a queen who got into one of the other ships and laid eggs? Then a facehugger could have infected another Engineer that was in stasis on the other ship. After infection and the hugger falls off, the Engineer would presumably wake up, hop in the navigation chair and take off. Later on an alien erupts from the Engineer and he crash lands on LV-426... This so far makes the most sense to me.
