Sequel Plot Implied By Ending

The logical thing would to fly back to Earth and warn everybody about the weapons on the planet, then fly back and nuke it all into oblivion. After we destroy those particular alien weapons, it would make sense to then find the Engineer homeworld and nuke the crap out of it as well, since these guys are dead set on exterminating us. But this is not the direction it goes in, but instead we have Shaw acting as if the Engineers on the homeworld will be friendly, which is what they have to be if you want a sequel, otherwise it would only last 5 minutes - Shaw lands the ship, gets out and introduces herself, Engineers kill her with David's head, the end. But, we know that's not going to happen. Shouldn't Shaw have told Earth that there's a stockpile of alien weapons on that planet and these aliens want to exterminate us? Isn't that what anybody in their right mind would do?
