My problem with the movie as a whole is it didn't slow the hell down for a minute and let the characters talk about what just happened and discuss how to proceed. If you think about it, the best parts of ALIEN and ALIENS are when they discuss their situation and what to do about it. This can be *ovedone*, of course, and used as a crutch for the audience, but this is the first time in recent memory I wished a movie would slow the F down. Also, I had problems with the glib dialogue and anti-intellectual characterizations of supposed "world-class" scientists and professionals. And the music was distracting and reminded me of a Speilberg movie. That said, Ridley Scott's failure is better than 99% of the other sci-fi movies out there, and I'm grateful for what we have.

If you watch it just to get the story out of it...just listening and observing, you will do better than if you try to think it through....

I agree Jim, the story was rushed and failed to connect all the dots. As a sci-fi film it's awesome, but the fact that It's signed "Ridley Scott" makes it a failure. You would've at least expect something better from him considering Alien and Gladiator etc.

@Jim100a100: agreed! 100% agreed. i was hoping Scott and his team would be immune to the ADHD style of movie making / story telling that (sadly) has become the norm over the past decade but, seems they too are on the ADHD track in regards to this new film i will say, the visuals of it are what really helped, i just wish we could have all been given a chance to enjoy what was on our cinematic plates, rather than have it snatched away all too soon for the next course was served and so on, and so on...ah well
