In an interview on movie.com Ridley Scott stated that Jesus was an emissary sent by the engineers to guide us and we crucified him thereby SERIOUSLY PISSING them off hence them wanting to return to Earth 2000 years ago to punish us by wiping us out. Given that Scott said this, I assume this should therefore be taken as gospel (forgive the pun) and that this basically explains a lot questions from the film. Am I correct in thinking this?

This Plot twist of Jesus being an alien sent to earth and the reason for the Engineer's to destroy mankind has ruined the movie and the whole series for me. Can't we have some good scifi that does not have some religious undertones.

Time line makes sense. . . . Shaw's carbon dating of 'the head' was give or take 2000 years. 2000 years before the movie is set was Jesus time. either Jseus was an engineer and was killed. . . Or the Engineers were pissed because this is when the mst powerful empire on the planet began its shift to worshipping 'one god' . . As if the Engineers were 'worshipped' as gods before.
