My theory on the "black goo"

[i]1. Engeneer on beginning drinks it and creates humanity.[/i] I do not believe that he drinking the "black goo". He is drinking something else. It is solid when the lid is closed and then liquifies when exposed to air. The stuff he drinks is designed to break him down into raw DNA. [i]2. The worms start swimming in that black goo and come out as that "cobra thingies"(lol).[/i] Those things are called Hammerpedes. Yes, it does have that mutanogenic effect. [i]3. Feifield fell into it and came back as some "super soldier".[/i] It definitely made him into that mindless "super soldier" although the school is out as to whether the acid spray from the Hammerpede he tried cutting off of Milburn's arm killed him instantly or was it a face full of goo that melted his helmet into his face kill him. His arms were flailing after picking himself up out of the goo so I'm leaning towards the goo killing him and then reanimating him -or- not killing him and simply mutating him. [i]4. The seed in Shaw created that "squid".[/i] Picture an egg with the "egg white" and the "yolk". The stuff that David infected Holloway with was a black substance that was not the goo. It was the yolk in the urn within one of the four sub-capsules. I was probably pure DNA. When David pulled those sub-capsules out of the urn there was black goo all over it. This is the "egg white". All the goo that was on the floor in the ampule room came from the urns leaking their "egg white"....a mutanogenic "primordial slime".....like water is to our animals on Earth...but way more powerful. The urn is a "bio-weapon" "bomb" that can be shot down onto a planet's surface, smash open like throwing an egg, but with these eggs, a ton of "chickens" grow really rapidly and they're not friendly. [i]5. It didn't actually killed Holloway, Vickers killed him, so... we don't actually know that it would kill him.[/i] It isn't black goo that is in him. David spiked his drink with the "yolk", not the "egg white". It is "bio-weapon" DNA. Maybe in the sequel we will find out what happens when it goes full-course. There may be a lot of speculation as to what might have happened. It did seem like he was going the way of the sacrifice engineer at the beginning but slower. This leads me to wonder whether or not the stuff inside the ampules (the "yolk") contains within it the same compounds to break down a host into genetic soup, but has the added ingredient of creating the new "reverse-engineered-bio-engineered-bio-weapon-xeno" right on the spot when in a pool of the "egg white" (the black goo). [i]6. And that "squid" put it's "worm" into that Engeneer, and afterwards a xenomorph came out.[/i] Well, this has little to do with the black-goo or the DNA because it found a way to use Holloway's testes and Shaw's womb to create the "squid" (called a "body-hugger" or "trilobite") which impregnates the Engineer to create not just a xenomorph (called a "chest-burster" or "Deacon" - because it uses it's spiked head to get out of the host) but also 1 FREE egg containing a face-hugger all as bonus for getting created in such an awkward round-a-bout way which IS not the normal method (Plan A), rather a back-up method (Plan B) for propagation.

Guys, the bowling pings like holder, that contains the black goo is actually an urn, that contains the ashes (here, liquidated DNA ) of the dead engineers. Thats why there are so many urns in the room with the head, and at the entrance of the engineers space craft. Just like, we take the ashes of our dead ones and scatter it across rivers, these guys liquidate the dead ones, or the engineers who want to die, in to black goo, store it in the bowling pin like sealed containers), and distribute across space to create life. The liquidation process is done by nano robots, thats break down their bodies, without water, into a super concentrated liquid called the black goo. The planet LV.... is a gaint burial ground or cemetry. Where they store the dead ones as black goo.

Binu Ud - maybe, maybe, but, wouldn't it be strange that they are going to destroy humans with the dead ones, and why are there space ships on the cemetary (burial ground) Antony - I also think that he isn't drinking black goo, but I don't know, it kinda makes sence that he is drinking it. It's nice theory (with "egg white" and "yolk") but I think that's all the same liquid. And the xeno burst out of Engeneer's body differently, not like in Alien... maybe it's not a xeno, or maybe it's a xeno queen :)

The "Black Goo" as you call it, or the "Seed" as I call it IS an evolutionary accelerant/Elixir. This stuff comes in three forms (using abordoli's analogy)... 1. The Seed - this is Abordoli's "Yolk". It is stored inside the vials in the container. This part is the evolutionary accelerant, that when consumed will break down and combine with the ingesting organism, creating a substance that when ingested by other organism's will mutate them by accelerating their genetic structure and adding to their genetic structure the genes from DNA of the host whom originally ingested it (Sacrificial Engineer/Holloway). 2. The Shell - this is Abordoli's "White". This is the black goo found inside the urns, and coating the vials. By itself this substance is essentially useless, and is just a means by which to incubate the substance inside the vials, but it does serve a secondary purpose when combined with the "Seed"... 3. The Virus - this would be Abordoli's "Scrambled Egg". When triggered/smashed the "Shell", the "Seed" and "Shell" combine, acting as a medium by which to spread the "Seed", allowing mass infection of the the "Seed" by acting as "already ingested" "Seed". Which accelerates the evolutionary of any organisms (LV-223 worms) and rejuvinating dead/dying cells (Fifield/Shaw's Womb). ...The purpose of the "Black Goo" is another story - to spread and propagate the new, improved viral version of the Xenomorph.

Not much is explained about the Black Goo... It would apear if we assume that all Urns contain the same stuff and that its the same that the Engineer drank.... That by ingesting a small portion will cause a mutation of the hosts DNA like with Holloway, however ingesting large amounts like the Engineer did, breaks down the Genetic Material its host is made from, into raw DNA and building blocks for life. Fifield was not infected that badly, seems his infection is via comming into contact with this stuff on a open wound/burn and thus has a different effect than when it is consumed... We can only assume the Worms both made contact with vast amounts of the goo and also may had even consumed some. The goo must be a Bio Former that changes DNA of what ever it infects and the out come depends on how the host comes into contact with the substance and also the actual kind of lifeform that it is prior to contact. Dont forget most creatures share a lot of the same DNA, so in theory if you take the DNA of any creature as say a grid of 0's and 1's as in Binary Code that Computers use to talk. If you could alter the code of say a Cat, change certain parts of its code to match that of a Dog, then maybe you end up with a Dog... I think this is what this substance does, it mutates and changes the DNA structure of what ever it comes into contact with.

Well the answer to that is in how come the Urns leaked when the rooms atmosphere was changed. So maybe the Goo has a more solid structure untill changes in the atmosphere cause it to change into something liquid. Again though we do not know if it is the same stuff, or something based on the same stuff, its all up for speculation. The only way we would found out would be if we saw one of the crew actually consume a larger portion of the Black Substance. What happened to Holloway did seem like the start of what was happening to the Engineer, but Holloway was torched before we saw the final stage of what ever happened to him.... Both he and the Engineer had ingested a substance however their is a huge difference in the amount they had consumed.

The "Black Goo" cannot be pure DNA. If I ingest pure DNA it does not combine with mine, If I bathe in pure DNA it still does not combine with mine. For DNA to combine with the DNA of an organism you need a means by which to implement the combination, such as a retro-virus. Furthermore the result of the Sacrificial Engineer drinking the "Seed" led to, after millions of years worth of evolution, the human race, which share an almost identical genome to that of the Engineers, thus for all intents and purposes the Sacrificial Engineer, sacrificed himself to create billions of clones (us), so that we could act as hosts for the Xenomorph. The only question is Why?... What do the Engineers need the Xenomorph for?

They are their worker drones, much like androids like David can be once they are no longer novelty items. They are sent to do dirty dangerous jobs like sacrificial seeding, working with WMD black goo, and being hosts for xenomorphs. What do these drones want with Xenomorphs. One a practical level, perhaps a weapon of terror to keep the drones from getting out of line whenever one of them start to desire 'more' out of life, and one hell of a weapon to deploy in battle don't you think? Imagine sending in the big grey dudes, already impregnated into a colony. They burst open and Xenomorphs start running everywhere. Start shooting or stabbing them and you find out why they have been created with acid blood. I'm sure that there is some religious link as well . EVERYTHING in this movie has a religious link, even the names of characters.

There is no evidence that any of the Engineers we have seen in Prometheus and Alien are not of the same species... The Xenomorph is most likely Genetically created by the Engineers using their own DNA. Because the all appear to look alike, and because the actions of a Sacrificial Engineer lead to the creation of billions of clones, one can presume that the Engineers don't breed anymore but instead clone themselves. The problem with cloning as a means of reproduction is that no new genetic material would enter the gene pool of the species and thus evolutionary mutations would stop occurring. If this is the case then they may have engineered the Xenomorph as a means by which to acquire new genetic material.

Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb here: Since we still don't know what originally stopped the Engineers from launching their ship and coming to Earth or wherever they were going, we have established that they are most likely starting life on other planets in order to harvest a large amount of Xenomorphs for maybe weapons: It's The Predators. Those motherfuckers created the Engineers like we created magneto, and they are the ones who stopped them from launching to Earth. Perhaps they didn't anticipate us to evolve as much as we did as quickly. Even in the hologram of the Engineers running away, whatever was chasing them did not show up on the hologram... It was invisible... It was the predator. So here's what happened: Predators make Engineers, Engineers make Humans, Predators realize Humans are perfectly good hunting prey, Predators kill off Engineers in the moon base, Predator fights Arnold Schwarzenneger, Predator fights Danny Glover, Alien.

I mean thy run, thay can be scared, they can sleep,they can power up the Orrery, They are made to sit in the pilot seat and cause the Juggeraniut to lift off, and they can become a killer after failing to leave the Moon's atmosphere and in tern be killed by a alien. We see the results of technology but we don't see, independent thinking, rational behaviour or communication skills. I mean if you found a ship full of humans don't you think there should be an attmpt to notiofy someone, anyone?
