Xenomorph 54
MemberOvomorphJun-11-2012 3:56 PMHey all!
Despite several negative prometheus reviews, I think there are, at least, several moments or factors in the movie that make it at least a good one. I'll list some:
1# The Visuals
I know, the visuals aren't enough to make a movie great, but, you must admit, the special effects of prometheus are just incredible! I've never seen a movie with best visuals. Some shots are just beautiful, immersive...The starmap, for example...the interior of the temple/space jockey ship...
Not just a CGI fest, but a wonderful mix between real sets and CGI effects.
2# David
David is, undoubtedly, the character the audience will simpathize the most. The fact that he doesn't possesses emotions makes him a 'pure person', innocent, harmless and guileless, making him more human than the rest of the prometheus crew. His curiosity and amazement when he is exploring the temple and is about to make contact with the creators of his creators is also amazing.
A really interesting charcacter and the best android in the alien series.
3# Character developement
This one might be contriversial. Some critics stated it as one of the movie's biggest fails. I still don't understand that, can you name a recent movie with a best character developement?
Even the mega-secondary characters like Jackson had significant roles in the movie.
Chance and Ravel were much more relevant than what I thought, for example.
The only character that disapointed me a little was Ford, but that doesn't really disturbs the movie's quality in big proportions.
4# Some suspenseful and gory scenes
One of the movie's worst aspects is that much of it was spoiled in the trailers and TV spots. One of the consequences of that spoillery was that instead of a suspense atmosphere, there are only some suspenseful momments. For example, if you didn't watch the trailers, you would certainly get excited in the scene where Janek informs Milburn and Fifield that the probes picked up a lifeform 1 km from them...you wouldn't know what that 'lifeform' was and what would the characters' destiny be...
But, even knowing some of those details, there are some suspenseful and gory scenes. Like shaw's med-pod bit or Fifield's rampage where he brutally kills several cremembers.
5# Creative story directions
The story of the movie is also a good point in my opinion, specially its course. There are some smart directions that avoid cliches and make it a creative movie overally. Shaw's faith in the Christianity even after the discovery of the engineers is a interesting bit, for example.
I think thhose 5 motives are enough for making prometheus a good movie at least.
Feel free to add some.
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...
