The Vickers Mentality

Haha.. nice conclusion. I did not like her at all, even bEFORE prometheus. Yeah, she is beautifull, yeah, she has a body - but here we dont talk about modeling, but ACTING. And that is something other actress can do really better. For her role they should use (if the role anyway was needed in prometheus, what i DONT THINK) some older authority lady like glen close. Not to "goodlooking", with NATURE authority, and thats something that theron simply does not have at all. To me it was like watching acting in a higher shool class - there it would be very good, but not in a 150Mil Sci-Fi movie. Some overacting ("...WHAT DID HE SAYYY..."), and simply dumb and time-wasting. --------------------- So what do YOU think, you two basterds, is Ms. Fickers a BITCH?? That's why I like vickers because of her attitude towards to ensure the entire mission is "successful", but it turns out.......

She's actually really similar to the way Ripley behaves in the first half of Alien, especially concerning safety protocol and mission success. Shaw kinda represents how Ripley is in the last half of Alien with the whole survival mentality.

Actually that is a BRILLIANT observation. You realise that she is this weird simply to give credence to more of the red herring mythology right? "Meredith the Sea Warrior" doesn't want to step on dry land. Adn we first know of her presence when David sees her wet footprints, leading to where she is doing physical exercise. And as for being the victim of THE biggest steamroller gag in HISTORY... that's right out of the Old Testament. "Honor they Father" or get stoned to death. RS is such a badass Troll. :)

Also, she's not half the control freak she's meant to be, nor does she get her own way. Her control issues are mostly with her father, who is an obstacle to her ever plotting her own course. She doesn't even have her own quarters to herself. His medpod is in there, rather than his giant bedroom, because he doesn't want to be reminded of his mortality. She tells Shaw and Holloway not to DO ANYTHING without reporting to her. Where is the fallout for bringing back a head? She comes along to stare in awe. The two times she enforces her will are, as you say, about not dying because of the stupidity of others. And she was angry, concerned and upset at various times, in a low key way. She did get some stress relief from Janek which is another mythology joke. Janek, whose ship comes out of warp speed on the solstice, puts up the Christmas tree, (Janus of myth marked transistions) and Meredith (Celtic Sea Warrior myth) getting it on... I bet some geeky heads were fit to burst at that the unseen 'crossover' ... :)

An older authority lady like Glenn Close wouldn't be credible, because if you saw Glenn Close tell them not to touch or do anything, just report back to her.... and then they bag an alien head and bring it back... there would be a serious showdown. Where was the 'punishment' for disobeying Vickers? Didn't materialise did it? Vickers WANTS control, but she is constantly shown not to be able to wield it (and not just because her father keeps her out of the loop) she only control over the crew it on two occasions (not counting Janek - he ignores her instruction to attend briefing etc) , She twice enforced rules that prevent the ship (and her ) from being compromised by the incompetence of others .... (I'm closing the door in 15 mins - because there is a storm coming) and the quarantine, enforced by flamethrower - which looks harsh, but you have to admit, Holloway never got the chance to turn into a ninja zombie and kill David, Byrnes and Wallace in the cargo hold like Fifield did?
