A title can create as much imagery as the artwork for a teaser poster, or the cover of a novel. With that said - 'Paradise' doesn't appear to be inspiring many - but there have been a number of interesting alternative suggestions. Personally, I feel that 'Paradise Lost' is appropriate to the direction that the story is evolving. And I don't believe another 'Star Trek' soundtrack is going to compliment the atmosphere. Does anyone know if Ridley sides with the Trek - over Star Wars?

Wasn't Paradise Lost incestuous.. Seems like it would be fitting for Prometheus, in a way.

Alex Proyas was slated to direct 'Paradise Lost' (based on the epic poem by John Milton), but it fell apart. I don't think it would be too ethical for Scott to take the same title, based on a poem, then make it a different movie altogether.

A good point - but I was envisioning Dante's ascension through the stages of Hell - Shaw has reached the first stage of her quest by encountering the 'Engineer' - now she is traveling towards the potential source of the 'Engineers'. Like in the 'Alien' series - Ripley was the protagonist and catalyst of subsequent events throughout the films. Shaw appears to be Ridley's central theme - her scientific pursuits, her religious faith, and her humanity.

Good points, Enoch. And for the soundtrack, I am not sure I "dislike" it entirely. Surely, it didn't invoke the same feeling you get from Jerry Goldsmith's soundtrack in 'Alien', but I'm not sure you were supposed to. I felt the soundtrack to 'Prometheus' invoked a sense of awe and discovery for me and maybe that's what was intended.

I'll agree with the soundtrack supporting the initial arrival to LV223 - a darker and foreboding composition would have created a more mysterious opening scene, and subsequent tragic events of the exploration / dramas. I like the reference to LOST - I didn't intend it, but it is appropriate.
