Plot holes are also plot devices

For all of the complaining let me remind you about weak sauce plot holes in every movie...
Things MUST happen to move the Plot along, and although many of you (hell even me) would sit through a mockumentary style exploration of LV-whatever... That would not make for a very popular movie. Thus, characters are "forced" to make decisions and things "must" happen in an unnatural fashion to expedite the action. Could it have been done better in Prometheus? Yes! But do not forget this very special point: Ripley survived in Alien (1979) because the Xeno "decided" (conveniently to serve the plot I might add) to go lay down in the escape pod and "uncharacteristically" react hyper slowly to noticing Ripley once it was woken up... Newt survived because the Queen pulled the ol' can't seem to catch and kill the "star of the movie" even though I managed to sleepwalk through killing everyone else... Plot Holes or Plot devices?
Both films that seem to be the appex if cinema (as far the fans go in this place) have huge clichés and holes... Sci Fi by its very nature requires you to suspend belief... Why is it easier to do so 25-30 years ago and not today? I think the execution of the ideas presented and hinted at in Prometheus are not fleshed out in the allotted running time, BUT I also think Ridley and Linderoff were faced with putting too much in rather than save some surprises for the sequel(s)... This film suffers because of their choices NOT because their ideas and the plot is crap.
Lastly, it's okay not to like it... But I am sick of hearing how each of you could make it better... It's entertainment, it's art, and it is the directors work... Don't see the sequels or support his bed films... I assure you, he could care less about YOU. Better yet.... Go raise 130 million and make your own movie... Ha! News flash: the community that LOVES Alien (the franchise) could not support this film alone... Movies must be made to attract all audiences... Alien (1979) was essentially an independent movie that found and grew a following... Has there every been an independent sequel? (I mean Clerks 2 was a major sellout to Miramax) things change... Movies are a business... Get over it and be entertained or don't!
