Elder Engineers Purpose?

I read on a site earlier that the Elders may have made the Engineers, really curious if this is true.

Perhaps he is Annunaki and the Sacrificial Engineer is Igigi.

There are a number of possibilities. The Elder engineers could be creating foot soldiers, it could be a caste system, a Mentor/student relationship, etc.....or the Elder Engineer could simply be a leader. They're both about the same height; their skin-tone and eyes appear to be quite similar, if not identical. One shows signs of aging, but other than that.....it would make sense if they've also been engineering themselves, and there appears to evidence of that in the movie. I looked very closely at stills of the Giger inspired Engineer prosthetics worn by the actor who confronts Shaw, and they are almost certainly intended to represent either permanent features, or some kind of bio-garment which temporarily fuses with the wearer......I suspect the former. The Engineers in the prologue look quite different.

I'm guessing this will most likely appear on the deleted scenes. Ridley said he's hoping to input 20 to 30 minutes of deleted scenes into the directors cut of Prometheus.

He is probably a Priest of some kind, I think this is a religious ritual. I know, the irony, Gods worshipping Gods, but it does make sense given this looks like a life giving ceremony or sorts. Hopefully more answers will come.

I got the feeling it was a priest sort of figure, as well. My guess was that he would give the cup with the black liquid to the sacrificial engineer, and kind of put the whole process in motion... He would be like a wise, respected figure who is knowledgable about the ritual. Maybe he called for it.

I thought at first maybe that is a different race? the real gods? since we are all made in the image of the gods even the "engineers". We know there is a higher power at play in the opening scene, If there is a sequel and Scott directs it, we will see them.

Perhaps the Elder Engineer is a member of the Vulcan high council XD anyway it seems to me a sort of escort...
