Ace movie.

I'm afraid I really can't get enought of this movie! So I saw Prometheus for the second time this week and I have to say its one hell of a movie. I think a lot of the negative reviews are centred around the fact that, yes, there are a few loose ends to the film but its clearly geared towards a sequel or maybe even two. And the inevitable extended version of the movie on DVD / Blu-ray will make it an even better viewing experience. So everything I think will make sense to those who didn't enjoy it quite as much as the rest of us should another movie be made. But as it is I think Prometheus was an amazing piece of work, asking some very big questions in the way a usual summer blockbuster doesn't quite reach. The little nuances of the movie are another dimension. For example is naming a character Milburn a reference to Jackie Milburn a legendary footballer for Newcastle United in Ridley Scott's native north-east of England? And the fact that the Space Jockeys are labelled Engineers in Prometheus when in Aliens in the boardroom scene the colonists on LV-426 are described as 'planet engineers'. Is this what Peter Weyland meant when he said 'we are the gods now'? So all in all I think the movie is a success artistically and a very well rounded piece of work IF you take Scott at his word that it is a stand-alone movie with its own mythology and not really connected to Alien. As yet. Roll on the sequel!
