There might never be a sequel to Prometheus.

Oops wet blanket alert! But If the Weyland Corp had prior knowledge of the emergency beacon from LV-426 and the derelict seen in the original Alien film, and that is why the Nostromo was diverted, that's it then. That's what links Prometheus to the original movie so there's no real need for a sequel to the film, or at least no massive rush to film one and certainly no real need to connect the two franchises in another film which we're lead to believe in some quarters is the whole point of the series. Cos we already know! Unless of course that it really does have nothing much to do with the original and as Ridley Scott says pursues its own furrow. But as for connecting it to the series starting in 1979 there doesn't seem a lot of point now.

So, you know what happens to Shaw and David then? Do you? Do you really?
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

@OP: lol. What are you talking about? You thought a sequel was going to deal with LV 426? why? nothing we have seen or heard has indicated that would/could be the case. Scott and co. have stated over and over again that prometheus will veer further away from the alien movies (thank goodness). The sequel, when and if it is produced, will deal with the exploits of shaw and david. LV 426 has been addressed... we know what happened there. There was never going to be a sequel that addressed those aspects of the story.

no chance. If david and shaw go to LV 426, it would render both Prometheus and Alien irrelevant films. You would have to narratively handicap the sequel (if they went to lv 426) so much in order to allow Alien to still offer something. Why, as filmmakers, send shaw and david to LV 426 in the sequel when they could have just sent the prometheus to LV 426 in the latest film? The filmmakers made Prometheus the way they did so they could avoid sending characters to LV 426 again. I think (and hope) that shaw and david will be going to "paradise". We already have an amazing film that takes place on LV 426. its called Alien (keep in mind that the derelict was already sitting there on lv 426 when shaw and co. set down on lv 223). I think its pretty clear that prometheus and its sequel(s) will be a narrative tangent to the alien films...they take place in the same universe and involve some of the same questions/players/events, but the prometheus line runs parallel to the alien films. thats how im interpreting things thus far anyway.

Worst, sequel. EVER! Anyway... i think this thread is a partial troll. Yes... we're gonna leave the story as-is. No need for a sequel... L-L-L-LOL?

well i guess ridley's going to have a real good explanation up his sleeve or its going to end up being laughed at. i dont believe prometheus's writers will deliver the goods in the next one. time to change some writers man.

They said a sequel would move even further away from the story of Alien. So yes, it does explain how W-Y knew what the distress beacon could be & how to scan for it. The company must have visited LV-223 again, as the Engineer's technology alone would be worth the trip. Will that be part of the sequel, along with Shaw & David on their fantastic voyage? I actually hope it is. Although I'd love to see how they would pull off a sequel with only one human & one android.

I was being a tad viscous.. im hoping for a beautifully dark film ..... full of desolation and dissapointment for Shaw.. Plus David fully reaching his chaotic characters potential .. ultimately all hopes being crushed for their foolishness! I feel like David is a modern narcissus .. I feel the only

I don't know what to expect, other than my undeniable desire to have this sequel made. Period.

A few things you should know: 1) Ridley stated BEFORE the release of Prometheus that there will be another TWO films before we arrive at Alien. 2) Lindelof is NOT on board for a sequel. 3) You/I/We don't know anything, so stop pretending like we do. There are a whole series of events that will eventually lead up to the crashed ship on LV-426, that really nobody has any idea about until details of the film start getting leaked. 4) There is no hurry to film it. Ridley has several projects on the go over the next few years. We waited 30+ for Prometheus; we can wait for the sequel. It's more than likely not even written yet.

@ADH Not that the crashed ship on LV426 is of huge significance in the Prometheus series anyway. It's a connection. Just like the Xenomorph. And the entire Alien series. A connection... A connection that jerking Alien closet-dorks drool over, for no good reason. Other than to see their favourite monster in action... I'm FARTIN' RAINBOWS NOW!

@ADH: those hypothetical events you speak of...the series of events that lead up to the derelict crashing on LV 426... had already happened by the time shaw and co. set down on LV 223. The series of events in question were hinted at in prometheus and they occurred approximately 2000 yrs prior to the events encountered by the crew of the prometheus. The notion that the derelict was sitting there on LV 426 by the time the crew of the prometheus landed on LV 223 is even further bolstered by information contained in the blu ray. All evidence at our disposal suggests that the filmmakers will not revisit the derelict on LV 426 (aside from possibly alluding to it in past-tense). Barring any unforseen circumstances, we will get a sequel. That sequel will deal with, in some or fashion, the adventures of shaw and david as they head for the engineers' home planet.

Their might be 2 stories included in a possible sequel. One will deal with shaw and David's adventure and the other with weyland yutani matters.I can't see them not addressing the issue of what happened to their CEO and daughter without a full explanation back on earth.Even with shaws last transmission they would still be curios as to what really happened.Thats the human thing to do.Thats why shaw went looking for answers instead of going home. How far would you go,to get your answers. What would you be willing to do? Anything and everything!:)

The new film May be two storys...... about rescue sent to lv223. they bury peter in honour and are attacked by the decon. not a real lot is explained about weyland/yutani corp anyway. Then about shaw and david arriving a very long way out to a ruined desolation and the inhabitants treat them like gods. or they are subjected to the truth........that we on earth are a first stage bio weapons project for an ancient long gone war. seems xenomorphs are a manufacture of genetic/ biologically enhanced perfect organisms of around 6 phases of development . a scorpion would be deadly if it were a thousand times larger. if our technology could do it..... believe me they would. One thing got me in alien v predator requiem. at the end two high ranking military officials hand over a alien technology weapon to a corporate company owner. i.e the predators shoulder cannon. As if......... the goverment was adamant and denied all knowledge of roswell. despite eye witness accounts. hard to believe unless weyland yutani is military combined.
