The Deacon already existed?

Although this didn't explain why the engineer's head went and imploded back on the Prometheus when rejuvenated.

Pump a shitload of electricity into a two thousand year-old severed head and see what happens. I'm sure pretty much the same......

Don't think so... I just read the book"Prometheus the art of the film" and it says:
"It came from Shaw and Holloway, which then produced the Trilobite, which impregnated the Engineer, which then mixed its DNA with the trilobite... We tried to hold on to some of Shaw, some femininity. It was born of a female before being born of a male".
Since the Deacon has female human DNA in it mixed with that of the Engineer I doubt that it has been seen before... Unless the Engineers have been using male and female humans in order to produce the trilobite and then impregnate one of their own to produce the Deacon as described.

I really hope they don't venture down the rabbit hole of "ancient visitation" too deeply. It's just too "Stargate" and:

Unless...
That's why they visited Earth numerous times? To try and create this singular ideal being?

What about the mural then? if you google it you see facehuggers impregnating hosts. Are they engineers? because if they are then they did NOT need people to create this deacon. if it IS people on the mural being impregnated then the engineers KNEW about the deacon before. So either way....this was NOT the first alien of its kind, but we can agree it was its first appearance on the big screen because every other alien has started out small and grew into something absolutely terrifying.
so...JUST IMAGINE WHAT THAT THING IS GOING TO TURN INTO!!!!!!!

The Deacon is not a typical Xenomorph. The original strain that appears in the Alien franchise is more than likely the ideal 'finished' result of the Engineer's genetic experiments into biological warfare. The tenacity of the Xenomorph's survival instinct and intelligence makes it much too dangerous for use as a weapon so in my theory the production of Xenomorphs was halted millennia ago, but by then they were already a species of their own. The 'Black Goo' as it is being called seems to create mutations that share some of the xenomorphs traits whilst mutating the host. The fact that an infected human male had intercourse with a female to produce a mutated offspring, which then impregnated an Engineer to then birth the Deacon does not mean it is the progenitor to the original Xenomorph strain but a new strain that shares similar physical attributes.

My theory:
The Engineers that the Prometheus encounters are not the same ones who seed life. They Engineers who have taken the technology for bio-engineering and want to use it for an entirely different purpose of their own design. They have modified themselves with it first (hence the bio mechanical "suits" they wear and the bio-mechanical technology in their ship) and are the anti-Engineers...they don't want to seed diversity and eco-systems, they want to leave behind uniformity in the form of the creature they worship as the ideal lifeform: the xenomorph/deacon. They want to use their mutagen to create this lifeform and populate worlds with it. Lifeforms that won't challenge them or do anything unexpected, but simply exist in a cold, emotionless way and dominate their worlds solely through a need for survival. These Engineers are the anti-Gods...their idea of "Creation" is very different. In my opinion, the black liquid is a powerful mutagen that, no matter what, will always at some point end in the result of some form of xeno-morph/deacon creature at the end of it's infection cycle.
