WHAT TRIGGERS THE GOO IN THE CANISTERS TO START COMING OUT

MemberOvomorphJune 21, 20121208 Views12 RepliesThere is this room that they enter where worms are in the mud, but no more than that... worms. However, they trigger something in that room that causes the urns to release the goo. Even the ceiling starts to change. Couple of things come to mind..
1. Do they then drop this stuff from the air like bombs away?
2. Is this what broke out and had the engineers running?
There is no reversing the leaky urns once they are triggered. Makes one think about who packed them, and how they were packed to be released easily. Then, how they have an instant affect on all life..What we dont know

David1 and Mythtic.......interesting...so the change in atmosphere is a trigger. I wonder if it is deliberate or an accidental unplanned consequence of messing around with deadly unknowns...
Fascianting to note that Dacvid opened that room too. I wondered what the symbols said and he certainly disboeyed orders to stop.

what made the urns leak was the difference of atmosphere. That room was sealed for 2000 years, new air in, goo spills out.
1 - who knows?
2 - Probabily

The change in atmosphere I believe is to be the cause, and Is noted in the movie. When they opened the door to the "Tomb", they let in a disruption to the current air of which the tomb was residing in.
Therefore, the canisters released the goo.
That's also what turns the worms into what they became.

well, it seemed to me to be a sort of memorabilia room. Something important to the Jockeys [and a reason for the head and murals to be there as well]. Like a Museu. "Don't touch"

David 1...your pal David in the movie should have given us feedback and input instead of just opening doors. Failing that, we should have been asking heim questions...failing that, we should have kept those helmets on while in that goo room and failing that....for the life of me why anyone would put a giant huge head with symbols on its cheeks in the middle of a room has go to be a decent question

Wasn't there a storm that caused large quantities of glass to shatter and be swept inside. Is it viable a hypothesis to assume silica provided became the catalyst that brought chemical goo to life? Perhaps this might explain David' affinity and tinkering with such a product, for he senses that might be more of him out there, and inflate his delusion of being a prophet of a sort. We can begin to see a movement towards some kind of standoff between David and Asimovs 3 laws, and what the cost of rebellion might be ?

Hi Richie,
The urns can only be canopic jars, jars which were used by the Egyptians to store
Organs of the dead during the process of mummification. The items were supposed to come into use when the mummified began their journey to the stars. I'm not calling the engineer some sort of mummy, even though the wrapped tissue like skin and scarification may lead one to see them as that. What if those jars contained cell lines, the kind that could re-encode the RNA , become actualized when environmental conditions seem to replicate that of the Engineers world ?

I think the presence of humans, either by heat or co2, is a trigger.
Consider this, the Space Jockeys most likely arranged those urns on the floor in that pattern. Looking at the image above, with Shaw next to an urn, it's easy to imagine a human next to each one, but a Space Jockey next to each one seems a bit of a squeeze (Plus there aren't that many space jockeys around.)
So, if the reason that there's an atmosphere suited to humans is so they can breathe when they come here, then this is probably the first place they are led to. And then locked in perhaps, while the black stuff does its work.

PSI...you open up some good possiblites here and make the sci-fi lover go to work...good stuff..One wonders why Urns with Goo were not left in caves?
Hadleys Hope...just like touching the monolith, somethings are never the same when this happens...We are deleberatly and calmly fed coordinates that lead to this place..Is it a giant mouse trap? Were the enigneers not supposed to be there? Opens up some thoghts here

Thanks for bothering to read Richie:)
Hadley I like your visual spatial insights, particularly those that are not isolated talking points but tie into an evergrowing, ever complex, ever connected whole. cheers.
