abordoliJune 21, 2012This "body-hugger" (trilobite) is, IMO, not the "normal" creation that is supposed to happen. To me, it is an unintended byproduct of the black goo "bio-weapon".
Under normal conditions, I think the weapon is supposed to create mutants like Fifield.
The chances of a male of the target species drinking a drop of it and impregnating a female are very, very remote. But we did get to see an extreme situation of what could happen if such a thing happened. The "bio-weapon" is SOOO adaptable that it "will find a way".
I know this all begs the question: what would happen if Holloway continued to evolve. Would he just disintegrate or would he grow a "deacon" (body-burster) inside of him? What would have happened if Shaw had not removed the trilobite? What actually happens when an urn is launched to terraform (destroy the life on) a planet? Does it simply turn the lifeforms into mutants that eventually hatch trilobites that impregnate other lifeforms creating deacons? It is all a marvel to behold, actually. A bio-weapon that does it all and adapts to any situation. Black goo is nasty stuff.....that's for sure.
