Alien 5 & Prometheus 2

Do you think we will see an Alien 5 and a Prometheus 2? Which would you rather see first, and which do you think is more likely? Personally, I would like to either see an Alien home planet without Ripley for Alien 5 or somekind of remake of Alien 3 and rewrite the series into a more logical and entertaining future. For Prometheus 2, I'd like to see more of the Space Jockey culture and background.

$50 mil opening weekend for a more artsy-sci-fi like Prometheus, which most people didn't even know was related to Alien I think is not so bad. I agree, a Cameron return for T5/6 and Alien 5 or Prometheus 2 would be UNREAL!

Oh actually i am still shocked by the poor outcome of prometheus so i am confused what i can expect... Yeah, everything around alien universe to come is welcome to sci-fi fans. I would like Cameron to take over, no matter if alien5 or prometheus, though there was some "avatar" (i dont like at all - disney sci-fi) i trust cameron to make something good, aliens was one of the best sci-fi-horror movies ever, terminator2 was really good. Cameron is hard to top.... Compare these BELIEVABLE characters (each of them) in aliens by cameron to this puppets in prometheus, maybe you know what i mean.. maybe not?

I think it's very likely that we're going to see a Prometheus 2, provided the box office is sufficient on the first. I think Scott is planning on it, and we'll definitely see that before we ever see an Alien 5. It's tough to say about an Alien 5, given that 4 was pretty much universally panned. I think if there was a 5, it would have to follow an entirely new story arc, as the first 4 were very Ripley centered and that avenue has been beaten to death. I think it would be real cool if they revisited LV-426 just prior to Aliens, and depicted how the xeno-morph infestation went down. There's a huge amount of potential there, especially when you think that Weyland colonized that planet knowing full well about the derelict ship and the eggs.

Totally disagree with getting Cameron involved. He's made sequels to two great movies ('Alien' and 'The Terminator') and turned them into overrated shoot-em-up-no-thought-action-movies. Poor.

Well, I think T2 and Alien 2 are the best of both series. Anything that man touches is gold in my opinion.

Yeah, Little Incentive, don't know about that. You make it sound like he's Michael Bay. Aliens and T2 were both fantastic movies, probably Cameron's best. He doesn't really deal in subtlety, but he really knows how to breathe life into his films and his pacing is damn near flawless. That aside, I don't really care who helms the next Alien product, as long as it's good.

@Little Incentive I mostly agree, although i don't think Cameron's movies were bad, I enjoy Aliens, and compared to some other options Cameron is an ok choice, but I don't think he's good enough at building tension. Cameron kinda tries to run his movies at 9 or 10 throughout, Where as Scott is better at starting at 3 and working up to a 10 that feels more like an 11. The no-thought has more to do with scripting (which Cameron is often involved with on his movies), and I would defiantly not want Cameron as a writer on any of this.

I think Cameron would be a good choice, provided they have good writers. I think Aliens was a logical sequel to Alien but an Alien 5 would be better served by a writer with less logic, a yin/yang so to speak or Lennon/McCartney of the Alien universe (Prometheus of course lacked any logic). If Cameron and Scott had collaborated instead of Lindeforen/Scott perhaps Prometheus would be in my like column. A movie centered on Hadley's Hope would be really cool except that the suspense would be hard to build considering we know what will happen. I would have liked that to be the second Alien movie leading into Cameron's Aliens. But that is the past. I don't know what Alien 5 could do except be a reboot of the entire franchise, with no no no Ripley or Ripley wannabe. Plus, I don't think the xenos in and of themselves are interesting enough to carry the series. Both they and Ripley are just over cooked. The original comic with Hicks and Newt was interesting. Who knows? I have to disagree about Terminator 2. To me it is the turning point for Cameron . . . from badass action director to happy ending/loveable king of the world. Give me the bleakness of the original any day. It was a well made flick but just too damn cute for Terminator. When Arnie and the kid say their goodbyes I wanted to just lose my lunch.

I really don't want to see Cameron direct. The whole reason I liked the idea of Prometheus because it was Ridley directing. Anyways, it is well known that Cameron will not be available because he is busy with Avatar 2.

@Svanya I think for Cameron, as for Scott, the problem would come more from the writing end. He may not be as visually gifted as Scott, but he can still make a pretty damn good picture. If someone had a truly great story that he/she could work on with Cameron and/or Scott, I think the result would certainly be as good as Prometheus. Scott absolutely sucks when he either (co) writes or has some control over who writes, as witnessed imo by this latest fiasco, I mean film. It would be interesting to me if the Scott/Cameron collaboration that almost happened came to be. With a serious SF/horror writer, a Dennis Etchison type, not a fanboy or girl. So Scott produces, Cameron directs (or vice versa), and a story from a Richard Matheson type. That is what we need, a third genius. I don't know if I trust either of those two alone with Alien.

As for Prometheus 2, I will pass. I'm sure it will make a gazillion bucks; my hard earned bucks won't be part of them, though. EDIT: This is of course fun speculation. I don't believe Alien 5 would ever happen. Cameron directing a Prometheus sequel is, however, never out of the realm of possibility. For me, however, the universe of Prometheus is so dull Kubrick himself would have a tough job.

I would just like to quickly point out there is a sequel to Aliens, however it is in video game form, it is called Aliens Colonial Marines (ACM) and it looks like it might have a good bit of storyline and badassery to add to the Alien Universe.

if they centered on the time zone inbetween Alien and Aliens during the time when the colonists first exposure to the alen creatures first went down I could see that playing out a bit like in I Am Legend when your in the present with Dr.Robert Neville but occasionaly keep flashing back to what made him and this society that he is in but no longer in this way in the first place. That would be very compelling except alot of backwards engineering if you pardon the punn would be necessary as was tghe case with The Thing (prequel) so it ties in visually, astheically with Alien then transposes into Aliens style of film and the characters and the actors that played them way back then would have to have some bearing of resemblance to us the audience as we would surely pick up on the inconcistecies if they didn't. We do see glimpses of them all but briefly in the extended cut of Aliens so it would be good to keep continuity. I would very much like to see Christopher Nolan direct an Alien, Prometheus type film but more in the Alien, Aliens universe I think. But if he were ever to be asked and Ridley Scott executive produced that would be welcomed by me too though! However, I think Ridley Scott loves the material too much and wants to be hands on in every concievable detail, which is BRILLIANT for me the as one of his favorite fans and of the genre!

I agree that the xenos are "over-cooked," but if another Alien movie was made where they were more in the backgroud and more discovery based, like investigating thier home planet and learning more about their life cycle with many new varients free of human/SJ DNA that might be fun but def. no more AVP style shooters.

I'd like to see an Alien 5 as long as it's not solely Alien based...I prequel to Aliens would be cool, and possibly the best bet. However I doubt Cameron will be able to take on any other task for a few years, I mean isn't he filming Avater 2 - 4 simultaneously this fall.

I think there will be a sequal to Prometheus before any news of an Alien 5. It would be great if there was an Alien 5 on the Alien homeworld? - maybe a sequal in Prometheus would show this anyway? (could this be where Shaw ends up?) - and if so... maybe that would leave Alien Resurrection all tied up and ended with Ripley finally arriving home on Earth for a well earned rest - I wonder if Sigourney Weaver would do it now too - she is about 53 now. - it would be great if there was another Alien sequal - maybe Ripley could go on a mission to the Alien homeworld as an advisor? - or could they tie up the Prometheus Sequal with an Alien Sequal thrown in? could Shaw float through space in Hypersleep for a few hundred years and end up in orbit around the Alien homeworld to find that Ripley and crew are there already too? or would this mess with the timelines (and my head) a little too much? *memories of trying to figure out the Back to the Future timelines* lol. Either way - I think a sequal to either of the movies would be fantastic - and, with Prometheus still at number one in the UK box office this week (after about 4 or 5 weeks now) - i'm sure it would make a lot of money if it was made.

Oh on one last note I highly doubt it will be called ''promethious 2'' as the film tells the story of what happens on the ship prometheous and we all know what happens to that baby

Totaly disagree to cameron taking over or even the suggestion of michel bay taking over makes me sick, ridly scott did an awsome job with this film, having watched the horrible efforts over the past years directors have attempted to take a shot at this story, ok yes we all want alien action and things dieing or killing in these films but this film awnser's so meany questions but once more opens up so meany more and that is what makes ridly scott the best director simply he focuses on the story of the alien and predetor universe not filling the film with troth that just horrbile action and the film pretty much not making any sence there is so much in the story still to be told and we are still only scratching the surface if the films were all action and not story then it would get nowhere and people would lose interest. I loved all the alien and pred films bar AvP 2 to over the top and was just a killing spree without any real story, but ridlys injected new life and intrige back into this story that been LLLLOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG awaited
