MemberOvomorphJun-24-2012 5:02 AMJust Curious, When watching Prometheus. The scene when the ship was making its final approach to land in front of the Pyramids I couldn't help but notice what looked like Nazca land markings.
I only caught a glimpse of this but did anybody else notice?
I thought That was rather cool

MemberOvomorphJun-24-2012 5:28 AMI think it was meant to be noticed, which is why Holloway, the archaeologist jumps out of his seat, and says "god doesn't build in straight lines".
Also the two concentric circles match the opening to the underground hangar.

MemberOvomorphJun-24-2012 5:32 AMNazca lines look more like guiding system for airport. I wonder what was the purpose in prometheus.

MemberOvomorphJun-24-2012 7:31 AMIt's Eric Von Daniken territory. I was wondering after watching Prometheus for a second time whether I saw the shape of the famous Humming Bird shape laid out on the ground in the shot from the film at mid to top left hand side of the screen. Thought maybe it was symbolic of the Humming Birds wing or at least here on this alien world some exotic form of a similar thing, not quite Humming Bird but a shape or form of something though. Ridley Scott again, may have been lacing the film with little easter eggs as filmakers of this genre do occasionally which have no direct bearing on the film but just serve as a respectful nod to a particular subject or popular author-creator of such material that they are worthy of a little respectful acknowlegdment yet carfully paced so as not to distract us away from the main course of the films story unless we go back for a more carefully and deliberate examined look.

MemberOvomorphJun-24-2012 9:35 AMWhy several domes lined up in that one open space? Theri aricraft doesn glide in for a landing. Also, they go the whole planet to play with. Why a concentrated and limited exposure of buildings here?

MemberOvomorphJun-24-2012 12:54 PMIt's like finding the place for your property. Some people like less crowded (in terms of rocks) and some people like it crowded. whatever floats their boat.

MemberOvomorphJun-24-2012 5:36 PMI read and heard Ridley Scott was going to use the Ancient Alien theory somewhat in the movie... ET creators, cave drawings, even the engineers nazca lines and ground symbols.... yeah it's got ancient alien all over this movie.... i.e. Sumarin culture.... they created man in their clay writings
I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 8:51 AMI wonder if it is indee a 'Humming Bird' reference in the LV 223 lines for want of a better term to use then perhaps here Ridley Scott was making use of the Humming Bird-Shape to be catered and geared more or less towards that of the Prometheus Eagle. Using the 'Bird' shape but retaining the greek myth still as another easter egg to the Prometheus ledgend. It just helps as nice little subtext that adds an artistic richness to the efforst put into making the film in the first place and it feels like Ridley Scott and perhaps that of his production crew are just having fun in their intellectual spere of creativity. These are moments that are best appriciated when on DVD/Blue-Ray so we can pause, analyze and debate the hidden visual metaphors that we have all done at one time or another with the original Alin film franchise.
