Has anyone got any view's about the two different types of engineers. The one at the start of the film seems like some kind of priest and the ones on the ship have a more warlike look, like they come from different casts?

Ahhh. Just sent a pm to Hadley's regarding this and his theory. I believe there's a hierarchy maybe different castes but I don't think any are slaves as Hadley's does. The pressure suit is just that...a suit. Just as the spacesuit. The Sacrificial Engineer didn't need any clothing besides a loin cloth obviously. Of course Engineers that do different things will need different attire. I don't think it means anything more than that.

EDIT...Hadleys, read the whole post before you respond. @Hadley's...Where do you get the "slave" part of your idea? If there was something to back up "slave" then I'd be more open to it. Rather than each Engineer just having it's own job or purpose be it large, small, easy, complicated or whatever. I agree with you as far as the paralells between Blade Runner how they would send replicants to do the dirty work etc and that would mirror nicely the Weyland/Human and David/Android relationship. While David does do Weyland's bidding I don't consider him a slave. Say someone created the Engineers just like they created us and just like Weyland created replicants. The parallels in that scenario would be great and I agree on that with you. I just think I look at "slave" in this case differently than you do. A slave in my mind is someone being forced against their will to serve someone... You know what? Thinking it out and typing this I think I maybe see where you're coming from and want to expand a bit. Perhaps, just as David grew sick of Weyland and wanted him dead, the Engineers we see in the film grew sick of having to serve their creators and turned on them. Maybe they got sick of sacrificing themselves to populate different worlds or whatever. I think I see what you're saying.

Where's that thread, Hadley's? I might start it if you don't want to.

Well, the engineers in the second half of the film, unless the race is immortal, were born several billion years after the guy from the beginning. Humans were four feet tall and covered in hair just 300,000 years ago. What will we look like in 3 billion? Morlocks?

Before I answer I'd really like to know how many times you've watched the film. At theaters or elsewhere. If you don't mind of course. Like I wanted to know your age lol.

TBH, I'm not sure what the suggestion in scene 2 is. It'll be obvious once you tell me but please don't let the cat out of the bag until I see it one more time. Probably tomorrow. If you know about this subliminal suggestion pointing to the planet being earth and with so many around the film stating that it IS and I quote "PRIMORDIAL EARTH" then why are you so dead set against it. Yes, I know Scott has said "that's not the point" and that they are "planet birthers" or what the hell ever but it's obvious that was the intention and he only came up with the "doesn't have to be earth" and "that's not the point" BS when people started asking the question.

It's obvious to me Scott came up with the BS mentioned above because he wants to be ambiguous and as secretive as he possibly can be.
