MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 2:07 AMI'm not the only one to have recognised the likeness of Dr Channard, a(n adopted) cenobite from Hellraiser 2 in the PROMETHEUS HEAD STATUE.

no, really, sarcasm engine disengaged - I just thought it was 'a fun topic' and clearly I was right to bring it up.
Thanks to everyone for their participation, thus far.

MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 3:18 AMI've been waiting for someone to comment on the Cenobite similarites. The Engineer looks like Pinhead without the pins.

MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 3:42 AM@Freeplanet nice catch!
I loved that guy - he had a hand blender stuck in his head. That would put anybody in a bad mood

MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 3:45 AMthanks guys,
personally, I'm surprised you MOVIE BUFFS hadn't pointed this out before, LOL. The lines across the face of the statue are ALMOST IDENTICAL to the lines across Channard's face.
I debated with myself whether I should actually link to the extremely gruesome youtube footage of Dr Channard being 'converted' into a cenobite (via cheese wire and colagen blender) but I thought that comparative image alone told the story.
For me, we're looking at DOCTOR CHANNARD (a surgeon) when we look at this big head statue in Prometheus -- and what does that mean? I mean, beyond simple set design choices.
Have the BIG HEAD STATUE's eyes been eaten out by bird beak or acid?

MemberTrilobiteJul-03-2012 5:03 AM@ Starbeast,
yeah from Clive Barkers Books of Blood, a collection of short stories...
Pinhead (as we know him) is referred to as both the engineer and the Priest.
Also the character of Kirsty was a friend of the family in the short story, not the daughter as in the film.

MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 5:43 AMWell, if there are Engineers womens then I would like that they seem like the Cenobite women...

MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 8:06 AMHere's the thing:
I liked parts of the Hell Raiser movie [the 1st one]. But the overall is so... meehhhh...
If the Cenobites had a lot more screen time and a lot more relevance [maybe putting them at the centre of the movie instead as props] the movie would be IMHO way better.
Sure, the criminal getting reborn was a cool visual thing, but that's it. The rest is all about him and his lover... meeehhhh...
And the way the get butt kicked... sigh*

MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 9:06 AMPurley coincidence. Purley, purley coincidence. You can only draw straight lines on a head in so many ways.
The Engineers obviously don't have the lines on their faces. Not sure if the lines are just symbolic or if there actually was an Engineer that had them. That'll be interesting to find out if it's ever addressed.

MemberOvomorphJul-03-2012 1:40 PMthe point is
a) did they think we(sci-fi-horror geeks) wouldn't notice or
b) they didn't care about the sci-fi-horror geeks
both bad moves.
LOL
