The deacon is NOT a queen or even female BUT a KING yes you heared me right this is a MALE individual a sperm producing xeno that impregnates a queen! So in logic this is a KING plus this guy when fully grown will eventually be huge probably as big as a queen or even larger! Think about it guys the Queen needs sperm to produce all those eggs why not it be the Deacon? Love to hear your thoughts!

A King has his reign, then he dies.
A deadcon is perceived to be more masculine term, as is more prevalent in the church... not necessarily the case. Although a Deaconess is the correct term for a female variant.
The word "deacon" is derived from the Greek word diakonos which is a standard ancient Greek word meaning "servant", "waiting-man", "minister" or "messenger".
Timothy 3:12
Qualifications for Deacons
12 Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well
Phoebe is however, supposedly the only recognised female Deacon in the bible... "PHOBIUS" being a possible follow on title perhaps?

Interesting proposition. Who's to say you're wrong? I think it would be an interesting turn of events for sure. But the question then is - where did the Queen come from??

Hey @Chris thanks for posting! Well the quteen could originate in a sequel film or she was made by the Jockeys but they only made females that way they'd controll the amount of eggs she produces BUT it went wrong and that wrong is a BOY! Congrats its a boy Xeno! KING DEACON!

sounds good but also he can be the parent of a queen or a new version of the Xenomorph... who knows...after all the Deacon was born from the body of Engineer and well could be a male king.

Interesting... This would mean however that accidental or deliberate King making must have happened previously as standard Xenos and huggers are depicted on the Mural walls in Prometheus.

Aliens has colonial polymorphism, they could have males to the reproduction task, that doesnt mean is a unique king....

Some animals can produce offspring without the contribution of the male... If the colony needs a diferent caste or more diversity, the queen will look get spermed (lol), and she will keep it in a receptacle, she will use anytime she needs.

I think they are following ant style anatomy here. where there is no king size but only queen size. anyway hard to think on this concept, quite complicated for my taste lol

In the SPIDER WORLD, the male is often smaller than the female; and usually gets eaten during/after mating.

@aurorian
Yes, I thought the whole point was that these things were supposed to be genderless...
And I agree, it was my understanding, also, that Scott didn't necessarily agree with the Queen business - from a Story point of view - for that reason..... I'm not sure he'd have too much interesting in trying to, "get stories straight", as far as matching up with the idea of a Queens is concerned - but perhaps it doesn't much matter.

I like that idea Synthrimonger. In my own mind I’ve always suspected the original Alien was male.
As Aurorian (& I said in another thread) look at how it appears to dispatch of Lambert.
The fact that it cocoons Brett & Dallas for the purpose of altering them to form ‘eggs.’
It was born of a man; Kane.
Then there’s how the crew make reference to it :-
“It’s like a man, the son of a bitch is huge.”
“Kane’s son.”
Figures of speech I know & perhaps too simplistic?
.........but just sayin’! :-)

I'm sure I heard in a video somewhere they did attempt to make the 'Deacon' feminine looking, it has part of Shaws DNA afterall.
As there appears to be no female Engineers , something originating from a female would be completely new?
Also, what would come from the Deacon once a 'worm/facehugger' gets to it ? :)

I like that concept that the Deacon could be a male alien, but once again, didn't Scott say that they are kinda leaving the alien story behind w/a new approach in the alien universe?
I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

This theory makes total sense. Remember in a interview Benedict Wong did hint that Prometheus is going to show us how mom and dad met. Perhaps this is what he was saying. Good call Synthrimonger!

Is there some reason everyone seems to think that the Deacon is actually male? Have I missed something? It may just become another form of Xeno which ends up growing into an egg layer. We dont know.

The Deacon is fully formed, not a little mini-whale shape like the original Alien, also the head shape makes me think of a Pterodactyl or bird. The mural looks as if man is pulling along a downtrodden avian humanoid species. The mural next to the tomb looks like the original alien or Deacon.
The giant head looks like a slave with the lines on it possibly indicating a restraint. Is it possible that the Engineers evolved an avian species before us into the xeno and enslaved man? Why do we assume that the only species to be elevated was man? The Aliens themselves may be only drones to a more evolved Queen cast that is more intelligent.
