Three Different Audiences

¡Hola! I'm a Mexican fan, I really love and admired the film. In my opinion, I think that Prometheus was conceived for three main audiences: 1) Really hardcore-geeks fans. I include myself in this group. 2) Public that watch and like Alien and was expecting a prequel. 3) Public, like my father-in-law, that went to see the movie and have a really good time with an epic sci-fi 3D movie. Unfortunately, the mayority of my friends and relatives are in the number 2 audience, and I hate it, but they were disappointed, and the "average comment" is that "the movie was predictable". Ok, ok, as I mentioned above, the "really hardocre-geeks-fans" know that it isn't the same planetoid from the 79 film, but I get exhausted to kind to explain. Just need to write the thing above, thanks.

@neo: skipo never actually said that he hates anyone. He said that he "hates it" (presumably, "it" = the fact that those who fall into category #2 were disappointed with the film for various reasons etc.). And as far as skipo's point concerning the inability of certain audience members to distinguish LV 223 from LV 426...well, i think he has a reasonable bone to pick there. Look, if movie goer x is unable to properly track the information presented to him/her, then his/her criticisms of the film don't deserve a "seat at the big boy table". Dont ever "losen up" skipo....keep raging. No one likes an emotionally flaccid person. :) Evening all. konnichiha?? where am i?

@neo...thats why i was confused (hence the "where am i"). I thought you were referring to "konnichiwa" (salutations....good day... etc.). I took your advice and googled "konnichiha" and google thought i was attempting to look up "konnichiwa". Anyways, i dont know much about japanese; i thought you might have been using some ultra-hip "correct" spelling that i was unaware of. Take care.

"...the movie was predictable..." In my mind the movie was not predictable at all.as i tried to view it with an open mind..In fact to me the visuals were sometimes overwhelming and wopuld need additional viewings to grasp the storyline. When movie friends say a 'movie' was predictable',,I can;r help but wonder if they already have checked out sites,,others who have seen the flick..and knew ahead ahead of time so they could//or would not be surprised.. In some movies..like 'Titanic'..well you sort of know the ship's outcome.....but in Prometheus,,with the various storylines and so called 'plot holes.how could it be predictable?

Different people had different expectations from this movie. Most wanted Ridley to create another Alien magic. Simple ..... that's the reason we have people feeling a bit let down. It was predictable in some ways like most guessed Shaw would survive as Ridley did the same in Alien. Now had Shaw to die that would make it a twist in the tale.

My only expectation was that this movie meal was filling..satisfying and contained nourishment. Filling ..more than enough to digest Satisfying,,no way as more questions than answers still persisit Nourishing,,,this is what this site is attempting to do,,continual filling of the mind and soul..so we will become better understand the story and bit of ourselves... or..it is just movie to view...and forget..?

@neo No, no. I don't hate anyone. Totally agree with you, that the producers create that amount and buzz and failed to deliver. Sorry for my "I hate it" comment, in my special case, I have a bunch of friends that are in the "production-cinema-people", but they aren't in this kind of movies. Thanks for your comment.

@joeyjoe Thanks for your help, wise and kind words!!!! That was really my point, and, yes!!! I wasn't mean to offend anyone, I was trying to separate the focused audiences.

@Indy John I'm with you. Yes, I'm a "geek-fan", however, I tried to view it with an open mind, and I really like it.
