Prometheus Needs a Villian....

Every great movie has a great villian..and I think this is what I see lacking in Prometheus... Yes there are questionable Engineer actions,,and even Deacon/XENOs could be that villainous charactor/but they seem to be pawns for the Creators.. Creators the leading Bada**? Maybe so...but I wonder.. The sooner that the leading evil charactor is identified,,the better my movie experience

"...the Vilain will be.... A PREDATOR.." Yes I wonder what script writer would even propose that idea to Scott..

Peter Weyland turned out to be a villain hiding in the shadows until the end, I don't think he would've minded trading everybody else's lives in exchange to further his own, the greedy SOB. If you think about it, who was the real villain in let's say Alien or Aliens. The xeno is killing people and taking them back to harvest more xenos, but this is what it naturally does to propagate it's life. Where as we have the Company lurking in the background with a real agenda with a priority over human life, as does Peter Weyland in Prometheus.

I think this a very interesting comment. Obviously, you don't necessarily mean some character with fierce eyes going, "BWA-HA-HA!!...", all the while - but a well-defined bad-guy, or two? Perhaps. I do think the Engineers were supposed to fill that role, primarily. However, I'm not too sure they were that well defined - and all they did seem to have been given time to manage to do, was a kind of moody, mime, version of, "BWA-HA-HA!!...". So...

"....Obviously, you don't necessarily mean some character with fierce eyes going, "BWA-HA-HA!!...", all the while - but a well-defined bad-guy, or two? Perhaps..." No the true villians will be known for their actions,,rather than their looks.. Their deeds rather than a public image,,One that seemingly is building up their surroundings,,,but seeks more.. more.. more their destruction of property..or entities. A clear villian for Shaw to face off with.. .... Sort of reminds you of Ripley.. Could David be a precurser to meeting the Villian since he was made for Weyland,,by his company..? Who knows what sub.sub routines will kick in when needed by the 'villian'..

Perhaps humanity is the real villain of the piece? We’re the ones obsessed with right and wrong. The xenos are a parasite following their own instincts; the Engineers are true to their own cause; so by and large that leaves us. Certainly Peter Weyland qualifies in this movie. Let’s face it, if the Prometheus hadn’t barged into the sleepy village on LV223, instigating all manner of horrible incidents, deaths and bizarre births, the Engineer could have slumbered on for an epoch, not just a couple of mere millennia! Earth and specifically dear old us would have been safe from the hostile intentions of our Engineers. Yep, when the big boy finally woke up he’d have found we’d slaughtered each other off the map ages ago. Then he could go … back to sleep again. If only Elizabeth Shaw hadn’t got Weyland’s immortality juices flowing … BTW - There was a cartoon where a man, crawling on his belly towards an oasis in the desert, desperate for water is warned by a cow's gleaming skull, "You'll be soooorry." Anyone remember the name of the cartoon?

"...@Indy John...... Did you like Alien? .." Yes I did after the 2nd viewing,,, In that movie the villian(or threat was clearly the Alien)... After posting,,I gave the matter a little thought,,,and perhaps threat might be better word than villian. From a story standpoiunt I just want a clear 'threat' close to ..or higher than... the Creators.. This would help put all the minor issues aside and lead to more alien a%$ kicking..whatever they might be..

QUESTIONABLE THINGS?! The Engineers had the single goal of heading to DESTROY ALL HUMANS. You don't consider these guys villains?!

Alien had a threat or (bad guy) it was Ash. I mean come on yes the alien was bad but like one of u said it was doing what it's born to do. And yes the company is the real villan if u want to get critical n Ash was doing what he was programmed to do as was David in Prometheus. So I guess in a sense humans are the ones provoking the bad. In each of the good alien films the company had a higher agenda, humans are expendable bring back life form.... Alien n aliens the only difference in Prometheus is that weyland seeks immortality at what ever cost. And David is not curious about things I'd say it's more what he is programmed to do at the certain moment... TRY HARDER so he has to tinker around

So no Prometheus does not lack a villan. Its just not some dude flying around robbing and killing people and destroying buildings. This movies is not for the simple minded it is actually very realistic n if u look at the big picture it's very cool what Ridley has done here

"... humans are the ones provoking the bad..." This sort of reminds me of a comic strip charactor....Pogo... who says .." We have met the eneny and he is us.." Well you may be right since as the story is told,,everybody/thing want to destroy some humans..maybe all.. Remove the humans,,then the story ends..our story..
